Thanks! People used the wooden rims for many decades, so I assume they're practical enough. But alloy rims are almost certainly more practical -- for one thing, if you are riding hilly terrain and have to ride the brakes hard, the aroma of hot wood is noticeable, which can't be ideal. But I use
