I don't have a Quickbeam, but I do have a Rosco built abound a Qiuckbeam/SO
fork. I'll second Rich's recondition for the Continental SpeedRide. The
42-622 fits under fenders and is great for most any surface. They're easy
on the wallet too.

Shikoro's right now in Brooklyn/NYC, 42mm and I just clip on a fender when
needed. Not beautiful. But comfy and confidence-inspiring.
I usually rode with Nanos back when the QB saw a lot of dirt in and around
LA. (Cazadores just barely fit the chainstays, but limited my gearing
options)
I'm on my second pair of Little Big Ben's from Riv. Wear well, rarely get
flats, good grip in the rain and have the reflective side wall. Supple they
are not, so I tend to pump them up to 60psi to compensate. I use my QB as
my commuter in and out of Baltimore, there's a lot of broken glass on
Thanks all, I have a feeling that this thread and your recommendations will
be a useful resource to many over the years. I'm certainly benefiting.

I ride wider tires on my Frank Jones (same tires I had on the QB):

Compass Barlow Pass (38's) under SKS fenders on an older Quickbeam..
plenty of room and really made commuting on that bike super enjoyable.
the only issue I ever had with the Barlow Pass extra lights was getting a
piece of glass embedded in the tire once and it caused a cut in the tread,

Thanks guys. I definitely need to run fenders much of the year in PDX and I
have. A set of SKS p50s that will do the trick with 38mm tires. I’m intrigued
by the Gravel Kings.

I have 38mm Voyageur Hypers on two sets of wheels on my Quickbeam, and I
like them. I like my Compass and RocknRoads better on other bikes (the RnRs
do squeak through the QB chainstays), but the Voyageurs seem fine for
commuting.
38mm tires seem like the sweet spot with fenders. You might try
