Bill, Patrick and others,
I don't know where all of you are, but if you are trying to purchase via
on-line stores that are out of stock, why not just try buying directly from
Carradice? I have done so on 2-3 occasions with a great outcome everytime,
especially as I have had my questions
SJS advertises the Camper, but they don't have any stock. Neither does
Wiggle, and when I tried to order one last year the delivery date just got
pushed out further and further. I finally decided to stick with my ancient
Nelson Longflap. Of course the Saddlesacks are also out of stock so
Wiggles' site says mid October, maybe. Don't know. May well just get
another rack -- the fomenter of this ferment (so to speak) was growing
dissatisfaction with my custom rack: as in a marriage or a new car,
the little defects become apparent with intimacy including being a wee
bit off-center and
I have never seen the other Carradice saddle bags in person, but I
really like my Super C.
I chose it over the others for the convenience of the modern fittings
vs leather straps for commuting. The shopping experience was bad
enough that Evans stopped carrying most Carradice products and
refunded
Thanks, Jay -- the Super C is definitely a contender tho' it lacks the
long flap. I figure what, $140 or so shipped from Wiggle?

50 quid at SJS - Out of stock. Wiggle too.
Carradice makes great bags that are next to impossible to buy.

There is a Sackville medium on ebay right now.

Thanks, just bought it. (I think -- these damn' computer transactions
always leave me a bit confused.)
Seller: are you on list? If so, the system charged me $15.43 for
shipping even tho' the conditions on the auction page include free
shipping for buy it now. Can you please refund the $15.43 via
i ripped the pockets off of my longflap camper and have been rolling it up
and placing it on the top of my rack, between two panniers full of camping
gear. when i get into town i unroll it, stuff it with food, ice and beer.
the bag is waterproof, at least enough to act as a cooler for the rest
I love my long flap. I've packed it majorly full with a tent, poles,
sleepingbag, clothes, and dinner for two on more than one occasion (bike
camping with a roadie friend who made me carry everything).
I think it's great. if you pop it on a marks rack or similar small rear rack,
it gets it
Howdy,
I have had both and found the quality of Sackville to be much better-
materials and construction. The quality of the Carradice was good just not
as good. Usability I thought was about the same- they are both bags that
attach to you saddle and carry things. I agree that you would

Those of you who have used both, which is better? I am inclined toward
the Carradice (24 liters versus SM at 23+ when stuffed) since SJS
has it for GBL 55.
Anyone?
I vote for the third party candidate, the Sackville
I have both- the Saddlesack M in conjunction with an R14 or Mark's rack
is better for carrying books and what not, and the straps are easier to
use, as Scot pointed out. It's just a well thought-out design. With
the Large size version, you can fit a medium or large flat-rate if it fits
I have been using a Sackville medium to commute to work for over a year,
after having used Longflaps, and Baggins bags, and definitely recommend the
Sackville.I like it so much I also have a large that comes out for big
stuff- it will fit those if it fits it ships boxes from USPS.
I love
+1 for the sackville large.
You ALWAYS need more room.
But if you have to chose between those two get the sackville. I find how
the Carradice sits so the side pockets have the tendency for stuff to fall
out. This could be my absentmindedness of me not strapping the sides.
Rivendell's
Thanks for all the replies; the Sackville Medium seems the poll winner by a
large margin. While realizing that, I've used many different Carradices
including several Campers -- damn sure wish I'd kept one -- and know that
it works pretty well and at 2/3 the price ...
We'll see what the financial
