1700 is a tad high, IMO. I'd offer him 1500, but not in your case: That's a
lot of money for a bike that doesn't have the features you're looking for.

See, yet another reason why someone needs to do a compendium all all
Rivendell trivia. There are little tidbits about so many RBW products that
would make a useful reference for interested readers.
The thing about the BB shell is it showed no Waterford serial # in the

Brian,
Thanks for the tip.

Hello everyone,
First I would like to say thank you to everyone for the great tips and
offers. I am sorting thru everything now. In the meantime:
There is a new condition Romulus going for $1700 at an LBS near me.
I am not crazy about the Romulus. I like those cream headtubes the other
A 57 TT would be too long for me, I think. Most of the Geometry Rivendell
charts that match my PBH say 55.5 or 54.

Fyi, I sent an email to the owner because to my eye that TT measurement
didn't match the 57 cm listed. He quickly responded that it was actually
55 c-c and apologized. Still a 54 c-c seatube.
Slightly big for me but a decent deal for someone else depending on how
high the price goes.

I'm also an 82 cm PBH and I ride a 56 Ram, the fit is spot on. I paid
1200 through Craigslist for the full bike 3 years ago, it had a
couple of good sized nicks and needed tires, it had about 3000 miles
on it when I bought it. The grease was pretty shot and i ended up

That's a sweet looking Road Standard. But a 59cm is way too big for an 82
cm PBH. For 82, you're talking about a frame in the 53-55 cm range.

Mis-read. Sorry! Still a sweet bike. It is my size, that is why I keep
thinking about it!

Perhaps this 54 might work?

That's a really nice frame too. I wonder about the accuracy of the seller's
description. A 57 cm top tube on a 54 frame doesn't compute to me. But I
could be wrong.
I have a PBH similar to the original poster's and a 57 top tube would be
way too long for me.

My '95 Road Standard is a 56 measured center to top (about 54 center to
center), and has a 57 top tube. This frame is maybe 2 cm smaller, the head
lugs nearly touch and there's no room for a pump peg, so I'd say 54 center
to top. My head tube is 14 cm, but the one in the listing lacks the
