I used to be bummed that my Ram didn't have fork braze ons for a front rack.
But i ended up using a small Arkel handlebar-mount bag and discovered that I
like having the bag high, with a visible map pocket, better than a low bag
anyway.
I also like the way a handlebar bag lid opens away from,
My wobbliness may be contributed to by my super slick rolling IRD RollerDrive
needlebearing headset. That thing is so smooth.
I keep checking if it needs snugging or something but nothing moves fore/aft on
the stack/cups/races upon braking and rocking. Everything snug.

Bo,
How much do you need to carry?
The Acorn Bags "Tall Rando Bag" is very well-made and can hold a ton. I
ended up not needing anywhere near that much space (but it looked great :)
I used it with a Berthoud decaleur. On my Sam I had to splay out the brake
cables somewhat to allow the bag sp
I will say54 Ram has wobbly handling up front with front loads. But nothing
that can’t easily be tamed. I rode thus way for a couple years and was great.

He can do semi-custom.
I use a VO decaleur and Nitto Mark's Rack.

Compass/Nitto for pearl/tech deluxe stems decaleur.
Berthoud GB 25 bag.
VO Randonneur rack.
On my 54 Ram now but still debating to sell them all and go rackless/Berthoud
bagless in favor of no racks and just banana sax and bartube bags.
VO rack weghs 220 or so grams
GB 25 bag is 600+ grams empty.
I use an older Velo-Orange small randonneur bag with the decaleur that
mounts under the headset lock nut on my 23"/56.5cm Univega sport tourer.
It holds enough stuff and stays in place when riding (including fire roads
and some trails) while still being easy to remove/replace when I want to.
