I have one of those "skull caps" from my shortlived return to motorcycling a few years ago. It's heavy, and I imagine would cook a madly pedaling cyclist in short order. Beyond that, I don't see where it would be any more protective than a regular cycling helmet. They both cover the same area,

Since one of the criticisms of cycling helmets has been the relative lack of protection, I've been wondering if there's a helmet that would fall between the standard bicycle helmet and the full face motorcycle helmet in terms of protection...and still be servicable The "half helmet" or "skull cap"
