I called and spoke to Jared about this rack, after seeing it on the blug back
on August 20th (on a cheviot) and he confirmed that it was a sample 27f without
the low rider attachments. I think it can also be seen in the Cheviot brochure,
in the page showing a touring set up.

For my money, or rather, if it were my rack carrying a 12-pack home, I
would have those upper rack struts angled up, to the highest possible
attachment point on the rack, not out semi-horizontal. That would help
stabilize the load at the top of the rack.

flat stock that holds the upper two has been replaced by
I don't think it's a prototype. I think the canti struts were opted for
regular struts. Struts are at the lowest position and attached to Riv's
mid-fork eyelet.
I've done this on my hillborne as well.

Yes, it closely resembles the 700c Nitto Campee front rack (aka Campee
Classic, aka 27F), but it completely lacks the three threaded bosses for
the absent lowrider frames. Must be a custom or prototype. Riv gets
prototype Nitto racks from time to time.
