My step-thru experiment is nearing completion. The original seat post (a
shorty) and Tallux stem we're leaving me a few centimeters from optimal
position. By chance I had another seat post available so that got me to the
proper seat height, but then the handlebar height was maxed at seat level.

Another thing that wasn't quite gelling was the shifting. I'd have random
ghost shifts and checked the cable, adjusted the chain length, and today
went ahead and tapped the bottom bracket shell because I'd heard the cable
can jump in/out of the grooves causing the ghost shift. The bike is set up
for friction shifting. If you haven't tapped something, you should try it.
Oh, a Dremel made easy work of grinding off the tabs.

Hopefully that's the end of the ghost shift.

I was able to pick up a Nitto Big Front rack. I've wanted this rack for a
long while, and I'm happy that I've acquired one. It's big and totally
capable, but not oversized and bulky. I dig it!

To cure the too low stem, I picked up a Hi-Riser from Riv HQ. Vince helped
set me up and I gained 2" over the Tallux. I'm feeling proud and equipped
now that my step-thru build experiment is reaching an end. I'm maxed out at
35mm tires, but it's cool.

On a *not* so side note, the step-thru has proved itself worthwhile when
attending to my kid on the streets. We had a close call when a driver
didn't notice we were crossing and I had to bend and grab in haste. The
step-thru afforded more space to make the lean and yank. No one was hurt,
thankfully. Be vigilant!
