I received some NOS Suntour Sprint LD-4850 shifters for brazed on bosses and a used set of Shimano Ultegra bar end shifter pods. To make these work, I believe I will have to make two modifications:
1) On the bar end pod where the square-holed washer rests, there is a small, semi-curcular nub (technical term) that must be ground off (or the washer notched) before the washer will rest flush against the pod. 2) The tab on the square-holed washer which acts as a stop when installed on downtube bosses must be cut off and ground smooth. Has anyone else tried this setup and had success? The modifications seem very simple.
