They do have little spikes but not as many, and I remove a few anyway..I don't like the super-stuck-in feel of a bunch of spikes. And yes they're spendy but that connection on the bike is the difference between loving and not loving riding for me, so I pays my money. Plus..pretty colors! -- Yo
