Yes the play is normal. I don't know the mechanics of all this, but I've heard
stories of people adjusting it too tight and breaking stuff in there. You want
it snug enough that the frame itself isn't actually moving around, but not
hurting your hand to close it.

Interesting comparison between BF and Dahon -- not that I know Fridays, but
I've always thought of them as "real" bikes, and thought Dahons suffer all
sorts of compromises because of their folding design and price points.
While my Dahon Hon Solo -- an upper-end chromo limited edition model -- is

brakes, fenders, seat, front rack, handlebars, etc.

My first Clem was the mustard yellow, a color I really love. But I didn’t
