I had Thunder Burts on my Bombadil for the C&O group ride led by Pondero this
week. They were GREAT on the towpath, and GREAT on the road on a couple of
5-10 mile off-Towpath sojourns. But I did flat once on the Towpath (the front,
thankfully – the Rohloff rear isn't fun to change a tire on), so certainly not
what you'd call bomb-proof.

Agreed re: Thunder Burts. Amazing ride quality. Not the most durable for loaded
gravel riding, but that's the trade off with light and supple. They fly on
pavement. I'd love to try them tubeless for an even lighter setup one day. My
2.25 TB's on my Atlantis are substantially quicker than the 2.1" WTB Nano's I
had before.

I'm with Tim on the Schwalbe Super Moto. I ran the 60-622 BAs for awhile, then
50-622 Supremes to fit the fenders I have. When the fenders came off and I
went back to the BAs, they felt so 'clod-hoppy' that I splurged on the the
60-622 Super Moto (not 'X'). They feel so supple, sprightly, and fast compared
to the BAs, that I've now vowed to strictly go Evolution line when wearing
Schwalbe. Unfortunately, Schwalbe seems to have discontinued the Super Moto,
to be replaced by the 'One'. We'll see how it compares...

Chris, the TB's are as close as I've found to 2.1" 700c Compass tires. I hear
slightly more road noise compared with the QB's Barlow Pass on the same roads.
They are surprisingly smooth -- much smoother and more supple than the Smart
Sams. I second all of David's description of them as well. I have not once
thought "this ride will have a lot of pavement, so though I'd rather have gears
today I'm going to take the QB -- which I did think with the Smart Sams.

With abandon,

I've recently become interested in the Thunder Burts. How do they do on the
