No, all tires are hard to seat perfectly, for the reason you cite. Older rims
are worse than newer ones. The issue is nnot confined to Hetres, nor is it
impossible to get satisfactory seating even with the worst older rims.

The deep well thing is annoying to read about given the amount of people who
ride Hetres on Synergies and have done so for YEARS until someone decided it
was hard and decided to make a case for it.

Yeah I've gotta agree on that point. Mounted my hetres on synergies no problem
and really haven't given them a second thought.

I also was mounting Hetres on synergies before I ever heard of this issue.
I never died from improperly mounting them, I think at least.

If you died you might not know about it (last episode of Sopranos as case in
point) but you probably would not be posting much.

+1 on Justin's point... I'm sure it's my lack of attention to detail but my
Hetre's mount good enough for me and w/out any exceptional efforts on two
different set's of synergy rims.

Here's the page about it. I found mine to be hard to get a uniform bead seating
on my Synergies. But after a short ride on them they seem to pop into place.
Maybe different runs are better for Synergies?

I ride GB Lierre tires on Synergy rims, and I encounter the same issues Jan
highlights in the above article.
I use his methods (barely inflate tire, massage it into place) and I get
the tires to seat (eventually). Riding a partially-seated tire doesn't
seem to work for me, only seating it
I recently installed a Hetre on a brand new Synergy rim. No problem seating the
tire correctly so it looks like the example on Jan's blog post, but the tire
doesn't mount so that it's evenly round. That being said, I have the same
problem with Hetres on Dyads as well. I've found them very hard

Not working with the Synergys?

Hetres are a bear to get the bead set right on Synergy rims because the rim
wells on Synergies are alleged to be too deep.
The new run of Grand Bois rims and the A23 Velocity rims ((with Stan's tape)
are touted as the solutions.
