[RBW] FS: 62cm Orange Quickbeam, via eBay
Apologies for posting this item again--generated a lot of interest when offered for direct sale here, but no actual offers (except from the Canadian fellow, and special apologies to him). So I put it on eBay with a $1 minimum bid and no reserve price. Perhaps I'll eat my shorts on this one. http://tinyurl.com/6zqr9h Thanks, and happy holidays to all. I get a broken link. Good luck with the sale - and I hope someone deserving picks it up! I use my 62 Q for just about everything. I rode across there yesterday myself! I was dropping my daughter back off at UCD after Thanksgiving, and brought my Riv Road along to take a spin out to Winters. See this bio reference also for Samuel Greely Hilborn: http://bioguide.congress.gov/scripts/biodisplay.pl?index=H000583 The name is spelled differently. But the RBW folks seem to put a lot of effort into a name for a specific reason. So maybe someone will pop up and explain it to us. I picked up a two-pack of Contico stainless steel mugs at Costco last week, and they happen to be a very nice fit in a water bottle cage. No handles to get in the way, and they hold heat a bettter than most other mugs I've used. Probably not as well as a real Thermos, but a Thermos doesn't work if you want to take an occasional sip en route. I don't know if I'd trust one not to leak in the down tube cage, but they should be fine on the seat tube. You might drop Santa a hint while they're still available... It's too bad Eleven Gear is no longer offering their stainless steel large size thermoses (that fit into bottle cages) with sippy spouts and flip over covers. Excellent for hot tea on cold weather rides. EG has replaced these with insulated mugs; I didn't read far enough to learn if they leak on the bike or not. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. [RBW] Re: Shifter Observation for all of you Techies
Give index shifting another chance. Try this: Remove the chain. Clean chain and cogset. With the chain removed, and viewing it from the rear, align the upper pulley of the derailleur on the biggest and smallest cogs. Make sure the alignment on the biggest cog is spot on. The alignment on the smallest cog can be a hair or so outward to the dropout. Viewing it from the rear and with the chain removed is, in my experience, the only way to align the pulley with the cogset properly. If there is nothing wrong with the dropout, derailleur and cabling, it should shift flawlessly after the initial fine tuning of alignment of the pulley with the smalles cog. I checked the chain an measured it for wear, but it was ok. So, after switching to DT shifters on my Atlantis, and using friction mode on it, I decided I'd try friction mode on the Romulus. Just like that, problem solved! In friction mode, no more auto-shifting at all. Not in any gear/chain ring combo. It's smoother, too, and did I mention quiet? This is info for you guys who wrench a lot and understand these things. All I know is that friction shifting is what I'll use from here on out. No more indexing for me. [RBW] Re: Shifter Observation for all of you Techies
Oh, I forgot. Detach the cable from the derailleur first before aligning the pulley and the cogset. Then attach, making sure that there is almost no slack or binding.
