As a Clementine rider/lover, this ad insults me. $450 for a happiness machine?
I think I’ll write to him and give him a piece of my mind.

Clearly stolen, but it's not showing up on BikeIndex or 529Garage.
Will, Grant, or Vince: do you have an easy way to look though the list of
green 59 Clems sold in San Francisco, and find the owner?
Public Service announcement: Please register your bike's serial number with

Thanks for those resources Matthew!

The "42069" serial number is a joke, too.
420 is another weed joke, and 69 is--well, this is a family website.

All I know is it was assembled and sold by Steve Cheers of Mountain Sports

Is it stolen, or is the CL poster just trolling? His/her oblique commentary on
the Rivendell aesthetic perhaps. Photos may have been lifted from flickr etc.
Hopefully no one is missing this bike. It has been clearly loved.

Ian, I saw this last night and my first reaction was like yours, I think
its a joke that may also be a real listing. Carbon is for "carbon steel"
perhaps, and there's lots of humorous Riv digs in there about zip-ties and
"medieval hammers." Then the specs at the bottom say it's an ebike with

You're right, the lack of an adjuster is a pain I'd forgotten about, I
didn't like it even with bar-ends and brifters. Don't use this with
downtube shifters!

One point for that since he already has the derailer: the adjuster helps to
dial in the indexing but you don't *have *to have it. Once it’s set it's
set, you're good to go. I'll bet he already did it.

Gotcha, thanks for that, Joe. I guess with brifters or bar-cons it's not
hard to use an inline cable tension adjuster, so the most pain would come
with downtube shifters? Can you tap the rear of the der to thread in an
adjusting barrel? That would likely detract from its Shadowy
Sam,
I see that a number of folks have said this rear DR will not work well with
downtube shifters. I said that it would. I am sorry and I guess I was
wrong. If you want your money back and if the DR is still in the same
condition as I sent it, please let me know.
I am very sorry about my

Flagged for removal. Just someone with too much time and too much pot on

I don't know if Acorn Bags meets your requirements, but their next batch
goes on sale November 2. This offering is the X-pac line (cotton duck
fabric with zippers). https://www.acornbags.com Sale starts at 9 a.m. PST,
and bags will go fast. I have several of their bags and no complaints.

No baskets or racks! This is a racing Platypus! I suggest not even a
handlebar bag. For granola bar, keys, spare tube,
and raspberry lip gloss, Just Rde with a support Clem following when
leaving the immediate vicinity.

Actually it looks like you would run into the fork crown before getting
near the cable. Does the App really take a 70mm (2.8") tire?!

Never mind, I figured it out. $35 for a set of brakes, $40 for shipping.
Just can't do it. At least the white ones are only $25 shipping.

Basket or no? Rear rack or no? The Saddlesack shown in Collin's photo
should be considered. I recently got one & it does hold quite a bit:
tube, tools, lock, etc, to give you an idea of capacity. Mounted on the
front, ti would easily swallow up a phone, small purse, & misc. junk. and
I just opened the box haven't mounted it yet, I'll tripple check with local
bike shop before installing it. My current rd does have a barrel adjuster.
Stay tuned!

I like Road Runner Bags out of Los Angeles. I just ordered a Buritto
Supreme bar bag and whatever their seat wedge is called in gray as a
light-load no-racks/fenders setup on my Riv Custom. They hold all the basic
essentials and my phone is on a Quad Lock on the bars. Ya know who hates

This bag from Velo Orange might work if you hang it on the front. These are
made for VO by Roadrunner. I have one on my AHH and really like. My AHH has
drop bars so this might not work.

Racing Platypus is funny and I'm totally stealing it. My custom is a
slightly more industrial looking almost-a-mixte version of the Platypus and
I'm running it sans fenders and racks. I never know how to refer to it
because it says Rivendell on the frame but if I say "it's a Riv" that
doesn't

What about a Nitto F115 bag support on the bars and an Ostrich F516 bag??
The bag has sleeves on the each side and the rack slides thru the sleeves
to support the bag. The bag has a nice map case on top. RBW used to sell
a Baggins bag that mated to the F115 bag support.
