For shifters I run Shimano barcons on the Noodles, with the housing completely outside of the handlebar tape. There are SOMA Thumbie bases on the bullmoose, and the barcons screw right into those bases. Zero cabling on the shift side. You do have to use a screwdriver to remove the shifters,

The Banks-Vernonia Trail has been mentioned on this list before. It's a 20+ mile rail trail about 30 miles west of Portland, OR. Conveniently it goes through a state park about halfway through. It seemed to me that an ideal way for my family to see the trail would be as a one-way overnighter
