Ask Rivendell what that tubing is. IIRC it's some type of teflon tubing. I had several experiences of the cable falling out of the groove & dropping off the BB shell. Probably operator error. So got a common plastic cable guide, drilled & tapped the BB shell, and installed that. Solved
