Re: [RBW] Re: Anyone used Gravelking 650b x 38 mm tubeless

2019-11-14 Thread John McBurney
I stand corrected. I am surprised. I run Compass 42 x 700 and 38 x 700
tubeless and 28 x 700 with tubes. I assume the 39 x650b reflects stock on
hand. I ran into this with Bruce Gordon (God rest his soul) Rock and Road
where the 700 s were not tubeless being made with a previous generation
mold but 650b were tubeless compatible. Maybe the Compass 650b 38s tube
required will sell out. May be worth an email to compass

Has anyone used these Gravelkings? I've never used tubeless before, so I'm
trying to solicit experience with the 38s. Most of the tubeless seem to use
fatter tires, presumably for lower pressure. What pressure would you run
 the 38s?

I like Compass tires too, but the 650b x 38 mm are not compatible with
tubeless, so that is why I am going to give the Gravel Kings a try. I will
let everyone know how it goes.

I’m a daily bike commuter and as I think about it all my bikes run compass
tires. I ran Gravel Kings for a while on my commuter . OK but not as well
made even though both made by panaracer. More flats than Compass too. I
like the 3 mm rubber in compass more than a breaker belt. When I ditched my

Honestly all my bikes run compass. 2 with tubes, 2 tubeless.

I am running 700x38 gravel Kings on Velocity A-23 rims and the combination
works very well. I could not get them to “jump on” the rims till I ran them
with tubes for a few days, that took the folds out of the casing...then,
pulled the tubes out, a quick blast with the air compressor and they seated
beautifully, nice and straight, held air over night. I added sealant and
they hold air great, I may add a little sit once a month.
