Dang, I really wanted to get one of these, and hoped to be gainfully employed
again by the time they are out. I’m no really interested anymore if it’s going
to be made for long reach calipers. I don’t understand that change, but wish
them well. Being able to run cantis was what was sealing the
I had a hard time getting all the parts I needed for a recent build. I
would buy what you can afford now just in case.

You should start buying them 6 months ago. I tried telling my local bike
shop guy that (6 months ago), to start stockpiling the basicsnope.
He's out of almost everything, though he did manage to score some inner
tubes from his Jamis dealer. He can't even get bottom brackets from the

Get this! You can easily make it close to a Rivendell style.

Is the straight part of the Wavie long enough for the grips, brake &
shifter to allow comfortably using the curve for another hand position? I
like the shape but have been unable to figure out that question.
Thx,

My wife has Wavies on her Cheviot and loves them. She used to have
Albatross bars, but last fall we toured Alsace and Normandy on rent-a-bikes
and she raved about the handlebars. So I took some pictures and when we got
home the Wavies seemed like a close match. I made the swap and she's been
happy
Very pretty. My first road custom was built to the Allrounder template, but
with slightly steeper head and road (753) tubing and lugs and crown. It to
was that lovely golden olive green. FWIW, this custom was ordered Nov 1994,
IIRC and delivered Jan or early Feb 1995. I have fond memories of it.
I saw the timeline, Jason, and was disappointed on your behalf. It seemed like
it would arrive so much sooner.
It WAS encouraging, however, to see that Riv has several upcoming orders. If
the timeline is right, I only have to wait 2 more months for a Platypus. Which
is nothing since I’ve been
Nice looking bike! What size is it?

Hey all.
Thought I'd cast a net here before going brand new, as I'm looking to
purchase two of these...
Yes, I know it's kind of a long shot askin' for the titanium version but
hey, maybe you got one you don't care for???
PM/text if ya have something...thanks!

As the self-appointed CHG messenger bird:
- Timeline as been pushed out (it seems) to next summer for delivery.
Pre-sale was previously set up for Nov - Jan range, not sure if this is
changing
- Brakes will be long-reach sidepull caliper brakes like the Homer etc.
Unfortunately IMO.
Joel,
Pleased for you. Did you ever explain your thinking that has led you to
sell?

David, Thanks for the thoughtful, thorough review. I considered a Wavie
for the same reasons as you. I went with a bullmoose as I decided the width
of the Wavie was a little more than I wanted/needed.

It likely does not need my endorsement but here it is.
I bought one of the early woolly warm vests and used it for years, not just
on the bike.
Vests are great for winter projects where a sweater gets too hot or the
sleeves get damp or dirty.
I used to cut the sleeves off my rag wool
Need a different stem length for my Redwood.
Looking for:
- Nitto Technomic Deluxe (190mm quill) or Tallux (225mm quill)
- 90mm extension (Nitto measures this center-center on the middle line
of the extension, not on the top)
- 26.0mm clamp
Preference is for the Technomic Deluxe
I've had a recent itch to swap out bars on my Clem from the Albatross which
I've been using since I built up my first generation Clem - I preordered a
Clem frameset from the first batch so I've been riding with Albatross bars
since whenever that was.
The Albatross bars were great for city
Mark - Thanks for the inspiration! I feel the same about these projects :)
