I've always run 10sp Campy brifters with a Shimano 8sp cassette on my San Marcos. No funky cable trickery required, you just set them up like normal and end up with 7 functional clicks using any standard Shimano derailleur. I think it's far-and-away the most riv-ish option for brifters if you
