This is a hot package!

I'm glad you could move it on, hard to find a better modded and painted
frame than that.

I hope to see it all built up sometime soon.

[RBW] FS: Buncha parts...

2023-05-22 Thread David B

Garage cleaning. Been fairly content with my bike setups and haven’t felt a
tinkering need for a bit, so time to move on some stuff.

Prices INCLUDE shipping in US, IF you’re okay with my packing parts in
bubble-padded envelopes.

It’s been a bit since I’ve sold or been on this list, but I’ve been around
for a while if you search the archives. I’m just west of Chicago if you’d
prefer to pickup.

Strongly prefer payment via Venmo. I can do Paypal if that’s a dealbreaker,
but I’m set up as a business so I get charged fees and there is no Personal
(friends/family) option for business accounts.

Photos are here (send me a message for photos if you don't do IG):

https://www.instagram.com/p/CskNGRmp6Td/

https://www.instagram.com/p/CskM93kJ-GL/

https://www.instagram.com/p/CskM5gMJLtA

Ok… what’s available…

(1.) Brooks B17 Honey Brown Saddle – mounted on a Brompton and used for one
ride before I realized the stock saddle was easier to carry when folded -
$90

(2.) Paul Moon Units – canti/centerpull hangers - silver – typical
marks/scratches from cables - $35 a pair – have 2 pairs

(3.) Nitto Tallux Stem – 12cm reach, 25.4mm clamp, 225mm height – used,
typical scratches including a spot where I flipped my bike upside down - $50

(4.) Campagnolo Triple – logos worn off, not sure the model, 135/74 bcd,
175mm, no chainrings or bolt - $30

(5.) Sakae Triple Crankset – silver, 80s/90s make/model – for a budget
build – with chainrings and bolts, 130/74 - $20

(6.) Shimano Dura Ace 7410 Crankset – set up with a 130bcd 38t narrow-wide
chainring – 170mm - $40

(7.) Shimano Deore (vintage) FC-6206 – was black, removed the paint on the
outer side, still black on the backside of the driveside, 110/74bcd, comes
with a very worn 45t chainring and bolts for 110mm - $30

(8.) Stock Clem Saddle – these came (come?) on complete Clems, have the
handle thing on the back side - $20

(9.) Shimano Tiagra Road Brake Levers – some scratches from wall rub, but
otherwise in nice condition - $30

(10.) Shimano Tiagra MTB Brake Levers – short pull, silver, some shellac
residue and typical wear from a few years of regular use - $20

(11.) Sunrace 8-speed Thumb Shifter – M90, just the right/rear side,
8-speed indexed, very little use - $15

(12.) Salsa Polished Silver Chainring – 42t 130bcd, used, decent condition
- $12

(13.) Salsa Silver Chainring – 42t 135bcd, used, decent condition - $12

(14.) Canvas Bag Set – I made these (have made and sold several bags in the
past) small/medium front bag with rolltop and flap closure, rear saddle
wedge with rolltop and flap closure – Martexin field tan waxed canvas with
Italian leather (straps, trim) and solid brass rivets and buckles, I used
these for a summer or so, then made up a new set for myself - $90 for both
bags

(15.) Gray cordura-like panniers – pair – Norco branded, remind me of Swift
(discontinued) shortstacks – I did some modifications at one point to make
them easier to open while mounted (original system used tension on the
lower hook attached to the main flap closure so opening the bag meant
loosening the lower hook attachment), I didn’t get around to upgrading the
hook/bungee system so these have NO attachment system in place, again these
come with NO rack attachment hardware, so… FREE for shipping – likely fit
in a USPS medium flat rate box

2023-05-22 Thread Junes
Hey folks. If you have a Boscomoose or a Chocomoose you'd like to sell, please

Boscomoose, but the non-fillet version is good, too.

Thanks very much!

[RBW] Lightweight chi-chi saddlebag of about 9 liters / 61 ci

2023-05-22 Thread Patrick Moore
Does anyone make a lightweight (nylon and plastic instead of canvas and
leather and metal) transverse saddlebag about the size of the Junior or
Barley (would prefer no side pockets) that also looks good? I'd prefer a
transverse style but might consider a bikepacking style if it's easy to get
to the contents.

I've been attaching a Junior to the gofast at the start of the cold season
and, now that it's time to go back to the bike-kit seat wedge I think I'll
miss the volume. But I'd like something more sleek in all the various
meanings of this term.

A vanity bag for a vanity bike, sure, but why not?

--

In other news, just installed a NOS silver 3-speed quadrant shifter (tt
mount) meant for AW type gears to replace the NOS 2-speed TF shifter for
shifting the TC hub (get that?). The TC had its original driver swapped out
for an AW driver, and the AW driver means that the hub now requires
considerably more cable pull to shift securely to Low. The new shifter
provides that by using the Low/first gear shift position instead of the
Middle/second gear shift position to hold the clutch securely in place for
low 86.54%) gear.

But this nice 3 speed shifter will also shift the 2 speed TF: I'll just use
the High/3rd gear and Middle/2nd gear positions. And I've finagled the 25.4
mm clamps for the shifter and roller so that they go easily on and off the
28.6 mm tt and dt (roller) so that I can easily switch between TC and TF
wheels and to the original Phil/Dingle wheel.

2023-05-22 Thread Michael Baquerizo
after some intense searching it doesnt seem that the technomic ever came in
190, only 150 and then a jump to 225.

i guess im searching specficially for a technomic deluxe, in 190 height and
120 length. 110 length should probably do just fine as well.

2023-05-22 Thread Jason Zakaras
Im unfortunately unaware of that cost. I confirmed with Walt that he did
the work, which he was very familiar with, but I didn't ask the cost. I
know that he is not a cheap option for fabrication and modifications... I
purchased the bike this way from the prior owner, I then stripped the bike
down and had it repainted by Rick, in the process purchased all the said
parts for it and now that its done, need to move on with the project. If
y'all can remind me not to buy any more bikes and pour buckets of cash all
over them that would be massively helpful lol.

[RBW] WTB Nitto Technomic 190mm stem & more

2023-05-22 Thread Michael Baquerizo
Looking to put together a riv style bike for my mom, belated birthday and
mothers day gift.

Hoping to do so on a budget, already cleared out my parts bin for the same
gift for my father.

   - I'm hoping a Technomic (the 190mm height) comes in the not deluxe
finish, only for $$ savings. Otherwise looking for the deluxe version 190
height, 120 length. Either size as I have a shim.
   - Riv Cork Grips, not drilled out for bar ends
   - Pedals, monarch. Condition doesn't matter as long as they spin
   - 26" tires, open to options, although ideally they are gum or tan
   walls. thinking 2.1 +
   - Happy to buy budget versions of these online, but if anyone has a
bikes worth of v brakes and their appropriate levers, id be interested.
   - Potentially interested in a b17 S, color doesnt matter too much
(although classic only, not the funky stuff)

Thanks in advance, hopefully I can help clear out your unwanted goods.

2023-05-22 Thread Jason Zakaras
https://crustbikes.com/a/shopicial/topics/164653

Frame and associated "kit" for this build project listed on the Crust
Trader. As I mentioned in my post about my beloved Quickbeam FS add. I am
totally cutting things back and decided this is a bike that I have lusted
for and paid dearly for (lol?) but figured I should put it out there for
someone to tour and ride, more than I'll have the capacity for.

Details are on the crust page. please email me if youre seriously
interested. It is being sold as a kit since I don't have the need for the
bits and bobs and won't have the time to part out individually. I'm asking
4,750.00 shipped to lower 48. Open to reasonable offers.

More photos of the parts will be added as I can get to them later today.

Cheers.

[RBW] Re: Wanting to try an AHH 47.5 or 51 in Boston

2023-05-22 Thread DavidP
*"I swapped to albatross bars and changed the 80mm reach stem for a 135mm
(124 w/ the upward angle) with the hopes of being able to use both a
semi-upright and my preferred stretched out position. That's been working
surprisingly well."*

Stephanie - the above sentence is all I needed to read to be confident in
your ability to select the best size frame and then set it up to work well
for you. The detail about the stem reach changing with the rise angle and
your experience with setting up albatross bars for multiple back angles
speak volumes.

Personally, whenever I've looked at the recent Riv geo charts (the ones
drawn on cardboard) and wondered about stretching up a frame size on a
diamond frame, I've found the standover height measurements seem to back up
Riv's minimum PBH recommendations pretty closely. That's another reason I
love my 60cm Platypus - I'd not be able to get the same roomy TT length on
a diamond framed Appaloosa or Atlantis.

For the AHH, your 80.6 PBH puts you in range for a 51cm with 40mm tires,
while Roberta is a centimeter shy of the recommended minimum PBH on her
54.5cm (which makes Roberta's description of her standover clearance very
helpful!).

Used minimally, Grand Bois Cypress 650B x 32

Another pair of 650B x 32, Panaracer, I will mess the name up, Cul de le

Re: [RBW] WTB: Roly Poly Tires

2023-05-22 Thread Garth
If you can make do with the puncture belted Ruffy Tuffy, Planet-X Bike in
the UK distributes them in both black and brown sidewall, and yes, they are
folding. They normally sell Jack Brown blues and greens too but I ran
across a cycling forum somewhere where someone posted that they had them at
a reasonable price and all the tires were bought up, for the time being.
They do have Jack Brown 25.5mm race tires though .. those weren't
ravaged as that size doesn't suit the trend du jour.
