[RBW] Good commute on the Hillborne

2013-04-05 Thread Doug M
Pleasant surprise seeing you as well, Eric. The new creamy Hillborne blue looks much in person. I didn't realize I was playing the pacer there. I usually think of myself as a garden variety chugger-alonger! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW

I was eyeing the Little Big Bens as well for my new AHH build but decided to try the Vittoria Randonneur Hypers (mentioned in an earlier thread here re: wide 700c supple tires) instead. Got the 700 x 38s, about 37 mm actual on Sun CR18 rims. They look a lot like Marathon Supremes. I'm aiming

[RBW] New AHH build drivetrain problem

2013-04-11 Thread Doug M
Submitted for your consideration: a crunchy drivetrain problem on my new Hilsen build. I’m experiencing some auto-shifting and cog skipping when going uphill, pedaling hard or pedaling out of the saddle. I’d appreciate the group’s suggestions for a solution. Frame: 65 AHH, Waterford, 135

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. Got home from work today and started getting my fingers greasy looking into it with your generously offered wisdom. As it turns out, when I removed the wheel and examined the cluster there was a small but noticeable amount of wiggle per Cyclofiend

2013-04-12 Thread Doug M
My concern is sinking time, effort and cash into a rear wheel that I'm not in love with. Digging into the freehub myself to try to solve this issue is beyond my skill level and comfort zone. I brought the wheel in to Jim and Mark at Hiawatha Cyclery a while back to inquire about putting in a

Another option is the VO Zeppelins, http://store.velo-orange.com/index.php/accessories/fenders/fender-sets/vo-polished-52mm-zeppelin-fenders-700c.html I used them with 700 x 47 Schwalbe Marathons (about 44 mm actual) on a Cross-Check, worked pretty well. On Monday, May 6, 2013 10:05:49 AM

I'll be driving from St Paul to Preston on Friday afternoon and riding from there to Forestville to camp for the night. I'll break camp Sunday AM and ride back to Preston to drop off the camping gear and ride for the day. Returning to St Paul late Sunday afternoon when the rally is over. I

My Hunqapillar with Albas and my Hilsen with Noodles have the same TT length, 62.5. Hunq has a tallux 12, the Hilsen has a tallux 9 and they both seem to have pretty close to perfect reach for me. On Wednesday, June 12, 2013 1:19:16 PM UTC-5, William wrote: In general most people do. I

Re: [RBW] Hunq and Hilsen on Ebay

2013-03-03 Thread Doug M
I'm 6-3 with a PBH of 92 and my 62 Hunq fits perfectly for my tastes. With standard Schwalbe Marathons the measured stand over is 90 cm. I have at least an inch of stand over clearance wearing shoes. Some riders want more clearance, and others who might want to use their Hunq as a rough stuff

[RBW] Re: Cheviot sizing help

2016-03-13 Thread Doug M
With a PBH somewhere in the 91.5-92 cm range, I had the same questions when I bought my Hunq and AHH. I decided to go with the larger frame (62 and 65 respectively) in both cases and do not regret the decisions. Adjustments to effective TT length can be made up or compensated for in saddle

Great photos Patrick, thanks for sharing. I need to get out for more rides like this. I heard of a chance of some snow in the higher elevations this weekend, any signs in your area? My Northern Minnesota area is starting to see nighttime lows in the 40s now but no snow likely until October. My

[RBW] Best Clem rack/trunk sack-type bag combo?

2016-11-30 Thread Doug M
I mounted a Clem rack on the rear of my new Rosco Bubbe and it fits and looks great. I am now in search of a large trunk sack type bag to mount on it. Riv seems to have only one current bag on their site that would match what I want, but sadly it is sold out. I ordered a Pletscher rear bag from
