I've had Shimano and SP hubs and ridden them in nasty bumpy gross goop for
years. The light weight of the lamps makes them mostly stay put through the
rough stuff, and the hubs keep rolling and sending out power no problems

The top Allen bolt only does it's job (setting your bearing load) when the stem
bolts are loose. If they're tight (the stem bolts on the side) the top bolt can
do nothing. Fact is, you don't really need that top bolt and cap. It's not a
bad thing to have, but I used to faintly tighten the stem
This may sound ridiculous to some, but if I were putting together a new
wheelset right now, I'd get whatever brake tracked rims were great (Pacenti,
Velocity,etc...) and some disc brake ready hubs (white industries?). I'd then
go to work on those rims with a couple of winter's of salty slime

Any indexed shifter worth it's salt will have a friction option. So, if my

you're talking tubes? And the "goo" is latex, which made me flash back to those
pesky latex tubes as a possible ultimate tube for the latex gooing, that they
themselves being latex would be good for the goo's adhesion,
Thanks for conducting that test Nick! Good to know. How long did you run the
latex tubes? One major factor I've found in tubeless setups is a seemingly
required 2 day window for the latex to form a skin, before that skin forms
sealing isn't so great. Maybe the permeability of the latex tubes
I vastly prefer tubeless to tubes, but 2-3 ounces in tubes and 3-4 ounces in
60mm 700c tubeless, and yes, I think the smallest orange seal is 4 ounces. One
thing to think about with sealant and tubes is getting the biggest tube you can
fit, that way there's less stretching. Less stretched tubes
One thing I see marketed is the tube injector that, I believe, is to be pushed
over the open valve to pump the sealant into. I think that's a big mistake and
a bigger mess. What's easy and clean is to remove the valve core and stick the
bottle top right into the valve tube (with the smaller
Minnewaska state preserve's 22 miles from the Poughkeepsie train station,
that's a handy option coming from NYC (or anywhere else, as Poughkeepsie's the
center of it all).

point. My saddle is 12-13cm below my pbh, which feels right to me. Some advice
that may or may not be advisable-
1. Have huge pedal pushers, my size 16 foot makes a good kickstand.
