[RBW] Shimano bar-end shifters Albatross bars for commuting
Background (may be skipped as it may not be fully relevant to answering the question and is quite wordy): I purchased albatross bars for a bike my son and I are repainting and building up for him. While waiting for him to select a frame color, I mounted the albatross bars on my daily commuter (a Surly LHT with riv purchased racks and Rivendell sackville bags). I was running trekking bars with grip shifters, which I liked well-enough for my 16 mile round trip commute, but I found them less comfortable on longer rides. I really like the albatross bars and am considering making them permanent. (I will have to purchase a 2nd pair from Rivendell for my son's bike!) However, my most aggressive riding occurs while I am commuting; it is an urban commute on roads with buses, aggressive commuters and clueless pedestrians. I shift gears excessively on the 7 speed cassette using the gripshifters. I often am quickly index shifting through 6-7 gears as I rapidly approach a stoplight. (I stop at all red lights.) I like to start up from the easiest gear and up/down shift through the gears as needed. Often, I am quickly shifting to keep pace with the traffic. Given the heavy vehicle traffic, I like to maintain as consistent/predictable a presence as possible, which usually requires both hands on the handlebars. I am considering replacing the gripshifts on the albatross bars with Shimano bar-end shifters sold by Rivendell. The grip shifters feel and look a bit strange on the Albatross bars--though they work fine. However, I have never used bar-end shifters, only thumb (index), grip (index) and downtube (friction). If you are patiently still reading, here is my question. Question: For those who use or have used the Shimano bar-end shifters, especially on Albatross bars, how easy is it to index shift rapidly across several gears on the rear cassette? Is it as easy as moving the lever up or down the needed number of clicks? (On my gripshift, index shifting, one click equals one sprocket change on the cassette.) Are the Shimano bar-end shifters durable enough to take somewhat rough handling every day? (I think I have read about a washer cracking easily.) As I mentioned, I ride hard on my commute. I do not mean to insinuate that the shifters are not of good quality, it is just that I am quite hard on my gear when commuting. Hence, the Surly LHT with 26 x 2.35 tires. Specifically I would be using the shifter set compatible with a 6-7-8 speed cassette. As always I appreciate and always benefit from the individual and collective wisdom of this group. I apologize for the wordiness of this post. Many thanks, Erl -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. Re: [RBW] Shimano bar-end shifters Albatross bars for commuting
Ryan and Steve, thank you for your responses. Steve, the bike takes a tumble on a monthly basis (I am a teacher and park my bike in the classroom; at home the dogs and children manage to knock it over regularly). In regard to index shifting on a 6 and 7, here is the product write up from the rivendell site:Shimano's best bar-end shifters, the Dura-Ace's are indexable only with 9-speed cassettes; the Ultegras index good enough with 6, 7, or 8 speed cassettes and both work with a friction mode, tooso if the good enough isn't good enough, throw it into friction, cowboy, and ride away. I will definitely have to make sure they are compatable with my 7 speed cassette. Thanks again for taking the time to respond. Re: [RBW] Shimano bar-end shifters Albatross bars for commuting
Dear Shoji and Joe, thanks for the response. I have a bike with stem mounted shifters (friction) that I ride on the weekends. I have commuted with it, but I did not like the uncertainty of which gear I dropped into nor the time I had to spend with only one hand on the bar while navigating busy urban roads. That in part could be solved by practice, but I am fairly set in my commuting ways. I do however enjoy friction shifting on my weekend rides. In response to another thread on bags, someone said (Jim from Hiawatha Cyclcery maybe?) paraphrasing here: fit, utility, looks- pick any two and be happy. Since the grip shifters function and fit how I ride when commuting, I suppose I should leave them. I can adjust more quickly to the new twisting motion on the grip shifts better than I could adjust to friction shifting. It's just those bar-end shifters look so nice! Thanks for allowing me to think this through. Erl -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. [RBW] Re: Shimano bar-end shifters Albatross bars for commuting
Wow! Thanks for all the helpful and thoughtful replies; you have all given me much to consider. Yes, I shift too much, an accurate diagnosis. I remember that chapter from Grant's book, though at the time I did not think it applied to me. Overshifting is a habit I come by honestly. (True for most bad habits?) I came to biking 20 years ago with bad knees that did not (still don't) allow me to run much. In an effort to minimize sore knees as I cycyled more, I developed a habit of frequent shifting to minize heavy effort on the pedals. This is especially true when commuting as I am in more of a hurry. My knees are much stronger now, though 20 miles on my old 10 speed with friction shifting gives me sore knees. Whereas 20 miles on the bike with grip shifting does not leave me with sore knees. This is a result of better gear ratios on the 27 speed bike with grip shifts, I think, and not a reflection on the type of shifting. My second confession is I never learned to ride a bike without my hands; I was an overcautious child. Even as adult, I am most comfortable with both hands on the bars. Therefore my preference to keep all my controls at my finger tips. I do not even like to pull my water bottle and drink while cycling, prefering to stop to drink. Boy, do I have issues. :) Thanks to all who weighed in on using the bar-ends with the Albatross. This is a great group. I will practice moderating my shifting and likely give the bar-ends a try. I came across this image of a set-up I might try: http://www.flickr.com/photos/27209537@N00/3454710706/ Many thanks again and safe cycling, Erl -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. You can also select a package that allows you to set prices for your prints and smugmug fullfills the orders for you. [RBW] Riv Inspired Motobecane Makeover
Yesterday was gorgeous day; today it is raining and thundering. After wrapping the Albatross bars on the Motobecane Super Mirage, I went for an early morning ride. The weather and the ride were perfect. However this makeover and ride would not have happened without the inspiration and knowledge I have received and continue to get from this group. Thank you. The Motobecane Super Mirage circa 1976 belonged to my father-in-law. When it didn't sell at a yard sale, he gave it to me. I didn't like the way it rode with the original drop bars and saddle. It sat in my shed for a few years. After reading many of the posts on this group and seeing the photos, I was inspired to fix the bike up Rivendell style and get it back on the road. I overhauled the wheels, bottom bracket and pedal bearings, replaced all the cables and brake pads, installed new 27 x 1 1/4 tires, Brooks B68 saddle, and Rivendell cockpit (Nitto Albatross bars, Nitto Periscopa stem, Newbaum maroon colored bar tape (matches the head badge), Shimano MTB silver brake levers). I left the pletscher rack, Weinmann brakes, Suntour stem mounted shifters, Suntour V-GT rear derailer and kickstand. I also left on the county bike registration sticker that expired in 1978. The Newbaum bar tape feels great; I rode yesterday without gloves. Though, I usually ride with gloves to protect my hands in a fall, the bike lends itself to gloveless riding! I adore riding this bike as currently configured. I thank everyone for the inspiration and knowledge needed for me to do this. Though I do not imagine riding this bike in the rain, I will look into whether I can squeeze in fenders. I also want to fit a bottle cage or two for carrying water on longer rides. Also still on the list is finishing the bar tape with twine. Here are a few photos from yesterday. Re: [RBW] Re: Riv Inspired Motobecane Makeover
Ron, Will and Matt, thanks for all the input. Here is a photo of the space I have between brakes and the top of my 1 1/4 or roughly 32mm tire. The clearance appears to be about 15mm. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-MBpqTwe8qHQ/UWm8cWpE7hI/AMI/-ovJr2_x2X4/s1600/Motobecane%2B%25281%2Bof%2B1%2529.jpg Matt, yeah I am looking forward to riding this bike for years. I am more vintage than the bike, and I can see riding this even as I age. The set up gives me an upright, relaxed position that is easy on neck, wrists and back. Interestingly, I am always tweaking the fit of my other bikes trying to dial in the perfect position. With this bike, I set the seat height, dropped the stem in as far as it would go, and slightly tilted the bars down. No additional tweaking was needed. I guess I got lucky! Thanks again, Erl On Saturday, April 13, 2013 1:02:52 PM UTC-4, Ron Mc wrote: There is really a lot of room under those brakes. On my 76 Raleigh with the same brakes, I had a pair of 42mm shorties to keep the brakes clean, and could clear (and cover) 1-3/8 cross tires. Even 36mm Honjos should clear 1-1/4 tires, but may not have the coverage you would like. You could fit 42mm Honjos and easily clear and cover 1-1/4 tires. Honjos also attach perfectly to this style frame - they are copies of the French fenders that were made for this bike. On Saturday, April 13, 2013 10:07:03 AM UTC-5, Will wrote: I dunno. I have an early '70s Super Mirage Mixte. It's my daily rider. There's not a lot of clearance on the mixte for fenders, so I suspect the mainstream model is similar. If you want to run 28's, there's no problem. But beyond that it gets dicey. I'm using Planet Bike fenders. They're easier to fit than anything else. The bike handles really well and if you can adjust your fenders to something between 28's and 32's you have a nice ride. I'm using a rear rack and a Wald folding pannier basket. Works well. On Saturday, April 13, 2013 7:47:28 AM UTC-5, Matthew J wrote: Well done. If you can find a set somewhere, Berthoud composites will look great on that bike. While it may put too much weight on the handle bars for comfortable steering, a stem mount bottle cage may be a solution. [RBW] Handlebar Bag Recommendations?
Patrick, I have the small acorn handlebar bag on albatross bars. I like it. It holds my cellphone, wallet, keys, cable lock, and Fold-up hex wrench set. In addition, I can also fit one of the follwing: a bandanna or granola bar or camera (fuji x100). The elastic closure attaches securely but has enough elasticity to allow me to slightly over fill the bag and still secure the closure. There is no external pocket and I cannot access the interior while cycling. The interior compartment is divided in two halves. I find the Stabalizing cords useless on the albatross bars and have contemplated removing them. The back of my stem shifters push into the bag a bit and help hold it in place and minimize sway. Without that, I think the bag would sway a great deal. Mine is the olive color. The bag is beautifully finished. Picture here:I hope: http://erlhouston.smugmug.com/Portfolio/Cyling/Motobecane-Super-Mirage/i-6VwTcZJ/0/M/Motobecane-0187-M.jpg Best regards, Erl -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. [RBW] Handlebar Bag Recommendations?
Patrick, One more observation: the internal wooden brace is too long to snug up the bag flush with the Albatross bars, because of the bars bend/curve. This also would create more sway I think if it weren't for the pressure exerted by my stem shifters. Without the stem shifters I don't think the bag would fit well on my alba bars. Maybe someone else has had more success with it. Photo: http://erlhouston.smugmug.com/Portfolio/Cyling/Motobecane-Super-Mirage/i-j3RWJKR/0/M/Motobecane-0192-M.jpg Again, it works well for me, but that is because of my stem shifters. [RBW] Re: Handlebar Bag Recommendations?
My concern is the stabalizer bar which extends the width of the bag. The keeps bag from being snugged up against the bar as it is pictured on dropbars on Acorn's website. Your idea of attaching around the stem is intriguing. I may try the bag on another bike with albatross bars and no stem shifters tomorrow. Will post photo if I get a chance to experiment for you. -Erl -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. Matt, the frame, fork, stem, and touch up paint arrived safely today. Thanks for a great transaction. I felt like a kid opening the coolest looking Christmas present. My wife had a dubious look on her face as I unpacked the box. In her defense, our screened porch contains my Surly LHT, 1975/76 Motobecane, a bike my 13 year old son and I are building up together for him, and all the parts and tools needed for that build. I really have no need for another bike, but I have wanted an Atlantis for several years. However, when my wife saw the frame her expression changed, and she exclaimed, Wow! That is classic looking. I love the color. I would like to ride a bike that color! Fortunatley for me, the bike is not her size. :) Although there may be a Riv in her future. I will be patiently thinking through the build and collecting the right parts; so it will be longer than I would like before I get the bike on the road. Plus, I have to complete my son's bike, first. [RBW] Share Photos of Your Custom Painted Atlantis
I own a new to me Atlantis that was well loved and used. It could really use fresh paint. Initially, I was going to have it custom painted red with cream head tube. However, when it arrived I discovered that I really like the blue/green standard color. It looks much nicer in person than displayed on a computer screen. To help me with my decision on frame color, I have visited Jim's http://www.cyclofiend.com website and viewed all the Beautidul Atlantis bikes featured. Does anyone else have pictures of their custom painted Atlantis that they would be willing to share? I wanted to provide an update after all the helpful responses. I installed the bar end shifters on the Albatross bars, and the set-up has worked great. [RBW] Re: Large SaddleSack Load and Anchor Questions
Patrick, I carry all sorts of loads from a medium backpack full of clothes and a laptop computer, to six-packs of 12-oz bottled beverages, to box of Dunkin Coffee, to camping gear. (not all at one time:) ) I could easily exceed weight limit of wheel and rack before capacity of the bag. I love the bag and leave it attached all the time. I strap mine down with leather straps purchased, I believe, from Acorn Bags. (see poor quality photo) Strapped down, it takes being laid down fine. It actually helps buffer other parts of the bike from the ground and adds some beausage (sp?). [RBW] Re: Anybody ordering to enter the Sam/Betty raffle? And usual excellent customer service from Riv folks
Patrick, Facebook posting mentioned frame set. Text copied below from Facebook. Good luck to all! Best regards, Erl quoted text from Facebook follows: (couldn't get link to work) Rebates Out, Raffles In As I announced last time, the 5% rebate is going away to be replaced with lower pricing on items. I thought it would be a controversial development, but only got one response and it was the opposite of my expectations: Good Riddance. This customer has been trying for years to opt-out of his rebate. He didn't want it when we first rolled it out and would remind us when our not-clued-in staff would tell him he's got a credit. Keep it! he'd say. Finally, it's working for him. We have great customers. Thanks for sticking it out so long Richard! But we still want to reward customers with something tantalizing, exciting to think about, keep you coming back... so it's raffle time. If you remember, in December we did a raffle for a Custom frame. It generated some good conversations on the owners bunch, drummed up some sales, and made one customer very happy. Maybe she never would have sprung for a custom, and that's nice to think about. We'll do the Custom again in December, but will do a similar one now and at least one more before the holidays. This time for a Sam or Betty frameset. They will be coming in over the next few months, and you can have a chance to win one: Place an eligible order over $200 between now and June 1st for a chance to win a Betty or Sam frame. Let's say we have our best May on record and get 1500 orders and maybe half are over $200. That's pretty good odds. By eligible we just mean the obvious stuff: paid in full don't use a gift card unless you still put in $200 cash $200 limit is before tax and shipping but after discounts anything else that's fair and obvious that we're forgetting void if you return or cancel the order for new orders only, sorry backorder folks, you'll have to buy something else starts now, ends June 1 midnight PST. Announced June 3rd on the blug. one chance per customer UNLESS you do: a $500 order gets you two chances to win There are no sale items this month because of the raffle, but get those orders in soon for free shipping and a raffle ticket. - Dave -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. [RBW] New Tektro TRP Levers - Review
Michael, I enjoyed the Senility Prayer. It is a new one to me, but similar to one of my other favorites: May those who love us, love us. And those who don't love us, May God turn their hearts; And if He doesn't turn their hearts, May He turn their ankles, So we will know them by their limping. [RBW] Saddlesack (med) grocery loading strategy and related questions
Patrick, That is quite the impressive load! Well done. I use the large Saddlesack and load outside the store. I would be too stressed trying to load while checking out, all with impatient folks behind me. I take my items outside to my bike, analyze what I have, and load accordingly. Similar to a game of tetrus. With your load I would have placed the milk in first toward the back of the bag to get its weight more forward and to give form to the bag. Last in would be fragile things like fruit, which would go on top or closest to closure. Most likely that is what you did. You could also strap lightweight bulky items to the top of the bag, like the maxipads. ;) Assuming the medium bag has the ability to secure straps to the outside this would give more room inside the bag. I use a rack with the large Saddlesack and do not find room compromised; in fact on my Surly the large would be unusable without the rack. The large is designed, I believe, to be secured on the bottom to a rack and on top to the saddle. There is no means to connect it to the seat post. It sounds like you have a good system with the panniers. Good luck, Erl -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. [RBW] New to me Atlantis
Superlatives are inadequate. I am thrilled and contented with my Atlantis. This bike makes me want to just ride and ride and ride and ride. My thanks to Matt Gilkey (for a great transaction on the frame, fork,hs, and stem) and Peter G (handlebars and both sets of brake levers.). Brian Tester answered my many questions on parts with much patience. Thanks to his advice the bike came together well. Any problems rest solely with the mechanic (me). The bike rides amazingly well. Already owning a Surly LHT, I was unprepared for such a fabulous ride: quick, steady, nimble. I assumed the ride of LHT and the Atlantis would be the same. In defense of my Surly, it is loaded down with racks and Saddlesacks full of too much stuff. The 26x2.15 Big Apples give the same supple ride as the 26x2.35s on my Surly. I haven't ridden drop bars in over 20 years, but I find the Noodles incredibly comfortable for long distances. The Surly will remain for commuting and the Atlantis will be ridden on long weekend and the ocassional weekday rambles! Over the last two days I rode 100 miles around D.C. and along the CO Canal. Here are some photos from out in the wild: http://flic.kr/s/aHsjFPBw5e I rode on mixed use trails, the gravel CO canal towpath, and roads. The Atlantis handled all surfaces and situations well. I will stop gushing, though I could not be more pleased with a bike. Bar tape arrives Monday! I should also thank this group for the generous sharing of knowledge. Thanks. I am hoping the collective wisdom of this group will be able to help me. I have been interested in the Sackville Toursacks for a long time to replace my 10 year-old set of Nashbar panniers. I would use them mostly for carrying clothes and work related items. I need to remove the panniers and take them with me into work, so I would be removing and reattaching them at least once a day. On the Rivendell website they write, The mounting system is a bit odd, but it works great as long as you don’t need to mount and demount your bags at every destination. My question to those who have a set of Toursacks, just how difficult is it removing these? What is involved? I can tell from the photos at the Riv site how they attach at the bottom of the rack, but I am unclear how they attach at the top. My current panniers attach to my rack with clips at the top and a hook at the end of a bungee for securing to the bottom of the rack. I love the look of the olive Toursacks, but I value convenience and ease of use just as much. Would I find securing a pair of panniers from Lone Peaks or Carradice more straightforward for my purposes? (Remembering I am attaching and removing them each time I commute.) I appreciate any assistance. Many thanks, Erl Washington, DC -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. [RBW] Re: Sackville Toursacks For Commuting
Thomas and Rene, Thank you both for your thoughtful responses. You both provided the information I was hoping to learn. My commute is a little over 8 miles on paved roads. My load is balanced in terms of weight between my two panniers, but my clothing causes one pannier to bulge more than the one that contains papers and other work supplies. In summary, it appears that while the attachment system is a bit less simple than plug and play it is not cumbersome. I really like the style of the toursacks and the fact that they are one unit with a handle. Thomas, thanks for the link to the photos; they were worth a 1,000 words. It appears the bungee ball cords attached to the top of the rack would secure the toursacks quite well for my purposes. Again my thanks to both of you for your assistance. Re: [RBW] Re: East Coast Rivendells - DC NoVa
Steve, I am in Kensington, too. Though I do not ride a Rivendell (yet), I do commute with a large Saddlesack and other Rivendell gear! My commute takes me the length of Kensington Parkway before I head south into DC. If you see me riding (black Surly LHT, olive, large Saddlesack, yellow triangle reflector on rear fender, yellow jacket and helmet) please say hi! [RBW] Riv Build Kit Question
I apologize in advance if I am missing something obvious. My question: does anyone know why the Build Kit for the 700 Drop Bar Sam ( http://www.rivbike.com/product-p/build-05.htm) is $125 more than the build kit for the 700 Upright Bar Sam (http://www.rivbike.com/product-p/build-02.htm)? I can account for about $32 difference with brake levers and handlebars. However that doesn't take into account grips on the upright bar kit and no bar tape on the drop bar kit. What am I missing? Something obvious I am sure! The price difference is not huge in light of the overall cost but not insignificant, either. I am trying to exercise some creative accounting in the hopes of stretching for the purchase of a new Sam. I was thinking to give drop bars on the Sam a good try, as I hope to use the Sam for longer distance rides (+20 miles). However, I am reluctant with the extra cost of the build kit and my budget. I know Albatross bars are comfortable as I have them on another bike, though I have never ridden them on rides over 20 miles.. I know I can always call and ask the folks at Rivendell why the difference in price, but I was hoping someone here might be able to help. [RBW] Re: WTB: Periscopa or 80mm Dirt Drop Stem
I have equipped an old Motobecane with a periscopa stem and Albatross bars. I rode the set-up two days ago for about 15 miles and found it quite comfortable. I did have to move my hand position forward, toward the stem, on the Albatross bars, otherwise the handling was a bit twitchy. That is most likely an issue related to the Motobecane. The handling improved when I had more weight further forward on the bar, right before the curve. I suppose that means I really should be using a longer stem. (However, it is nice to have extra grip space closer to my body for when I want to sit up more and precise handling is not an issue.) I did not experience any elbow pain on my ride, but then I never have from riding. I did notice a bit of soreness in my biceps toward the end of the ride, not a bad thing, just something new. Overall the setup was quite comfortable both leisurely riding a paved trail and riding more quickly on the road. Here is a photo of my set-up in the hope it gives you a sense of what the periscopa bar might do for your set-up. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-81Zd4gitAUU/UUTZ9rrox_I/ALA/nrPD8zmpsuw/s1600/Motobecane+Periscopa-1132.jpg There are a few more photos of the set-up here: http://erlhouston.smugmug.com/Portfolio/Cyling/Motobecane-Super-Mirage/28440802_jtmxgv Like you I am still experimenting a bit, hence the green grips which are really sections of old garden hose and duct tape. I am trying to decide how much padding I want on the bars. Eventually I will wrap everything with some maroon Newbaums bar tape from Rivendell. [RBW] Re: WTB: Periscopa or 80mm Dirt Drop Stem
I am glad the photo was helpful. However, the photo is deceiving as to the saddle; the saddle is a Brooks B68 which they do not appear to make anymore. I have a Standard B17 on my commuting bike, and it would not be a good choice for me on a more upright set-up. The B 68 is fine with the periscope bars as it is a wider saddle. I think the B68 was just a B67 without springs. I would recommend a B67 which has springs. Many riders with a more upright riding position have them and seem to like them. In short any saddle on which you can comfortably place more weight will ease the pressure on your arms and hands. [RBW] CO Canal/GAP Trail Week of Aug 12-19
Would any 'RBW Friends' be interested in joining me to ride part or all of the CO Canal http://www.bikewashington.org/canal/ and/or GAP Trailhttp://www.atatrail.org/ sometime between August 12-19? A friend and I had scheduled the week of August 12th to cycle the CO Canal. We were going to ride the roughly 180 miles from Cumberland, MD to Washington, DC in three days. Living in the DC area, we were going to select the three consecutive days with the best weather forecast for the ride. Unfortunately, an injury has sidelined my friend, and while I don't mind riding alone, companionship makes a trip more enjoyable. On the off chance folks are interested in joining me on such short notice, I would welcome the company. Tentative Trip details: When: sometime during the week of August 12-19th (a 2 or 3 day ride would be fine, but so would a 5-7 day) Where: CO Canal and/or the GAP Trail -or- some combination of both; I am flexible and both trails are on my 'bucket list'. Miles: an average of 40-60 miles a day. I prefer a leisurely pace. Lodging: I am open to camping, motels or a combination. My preference would be motels to limit the gear I carry, but I am a camper and would be open to camping. Please email me off list if you are interested: erlhouston (at) gmail (dot) com and we can discuss further. [RBW] Re: Recommendations for Saddle Bag--mostly for books
Tom, Short Answer: another vote for a large Saddlesack. Long Answer: be sure to think through your commuting process. From personal experience, I transitioned from panniers to a large Saxdlesack because of my personal routine and preferences. I commute several days a week by bike and the other days by car or bus. When I started bike commuting, I liked panniers for the ease of attaching and removal from bike. Over time, though, I found transferring things from panniers to a briefcase or a backpack tedious on the days I drove or took the bus. (i am sure there are panniers that convert to backpacks or briefcases to allow easier transport off the bike.) The large Saddlesack is spacious enough to hold my briefcase and/or backpack. This keeps life more simple and minimizes the likelihood I forget something in a bag at home. The downside to the large Saddlesack is that it is not as easy to switch it between bikes as with a set of panniers. Finally, a more permanently attach Saddlesack might bring unwanted attention to your bike depending on where you have to secure it at school. [RBW] Hunqa with Albastaches
Brian, Thanks for the description and pics of your albastache set-up. I use an albatross bar on my commuter, but your write-up has me pondering an experiment with albastaches. Did you change stem lengths or rise when you switched from albatross to albastache? Thanks, Erl PS: I am refusing to contemplate winter, yet! :) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. [RBW] Re: 14 Sep - DC Area Atlantis Ride
It was a great ride and my first ride with other RBW folks. Tony, thanks for organizing and leading us. It was fun comparing our Atlanti. Ken and Howard, I enjoyed meeting and riding with you both. Seeing a Ramboullait and an Allrounder in person was a treat I managed to get in 52 miles of riding today on the Atlantis! I, too, hope that today will be the first of many future rides!
