know, these frames fit a variety of heights/inseams. I would *not* fit or

Man, I love this video. I've never heard of a retro-direct drive
before.
I've also never been particularly excited about single speed bikes
since I moved up to geared ones when I was a teenager, but the
mechanic/engineer side of me is fascinated by this retro-direct drive.

For those who like metric, I used a 3.5mm drill bit to drill out the
holes in my pedals. I didn't have any spikes, but I had a bag of 4mm
stainless steel set screws. Didn't bother tapping the holes. I just
screwed the set scews in with an allen wrench, backing them out a bit

In general, I really like the Grip Kings a lot. I have big feet --13,
sometimes 14 depending on the shoes, and the Grip Kings feel wonderful
under my feet. I love the support I get from how long they are, and

It was reported in this forum that the Zefals could be defeated with a
strong magnet.
I later confirmed this with mine. If you turn the Zefals to lock and
unlock and listen carefully, you'll hear a click. Stick a magnet on
that clicking point when they are locked, and the magnet will pull

I tried magnets on mine, and nothing happened. When you turn the
skewer upside down next to your ear, you can hear a little click as
something slides in there, allowing the ball bearing that locks the
lever closed to be to retract (I believe there is a spring behind the
ball bearing as well

I've been thinking about buying a set of the Zefal Lock n'Rolls first
for my commuter bike, and then maybe for the Atlantis (which I can
rarely make myself leave unattended, yet). So while doing a google on
them, I found someone had left a review on them at Bikeman.
