I had the exact same reaction! I thought, how can that have been my bike? I had
so much stuff on it...

2018-08-07 Thread Gabriel Bruguier
Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Virgil, my main concern was to have the brake cable secured in the cable
stop somehow and to not just rub against the edge of the stop. The link
above to Joe's build shows that he used a part from a brake noodle to put
in the stop. But I also wanted to center the cable on the top of the
downtime (the stop is off center) before I connected it to the cable
hanger. So, I ordered one of these clamp on cable stops
,
centered it an inch and a half down from the stop, and ran a bit of cable
between them. Brake operation feels smooth and strong. It adds an extra
piece, which irritates my minimalist sensibilities, but oh well.

Jon, measuring at the outer knobs, the tire is between 50-51mm wide. Yes,
every ride I'm appreciating the bike's qualities more and more. I can't
wait to spend all day on it!

Jason, this video

shows that Paul ran a 45mm fender & 32mm tire in the Racer Mediums. The
Racers are larger-- I read somewhere that there's 54mm between the pivots.
 So maybe 50mm with 45s?

So great!
enjoy it
I really want one of those slimy green ones in a 60mm.
Any thoughts on how big the 700c tires can get with those brake AND take
fenders?

Gabe that's a clean looking machine. You are going to enjoy many miles on
what I think is the MOST COMFORTABLE riding bike in my opinion.
I'm curious what the actual tire width is when installed.
Enjoy your new bike.
