[RBW] Re: wtb (if right size) silver salsa crossing guard

2013-03-03 Thread Cyclofiend Jim
I've seen them around - cyclocross.com has them, and I reckon there are
some other options. An evening dremeling down an old, wornout chainring
will yield a similar result! ;^)

If you have one in your shed looking for a home, let me know.

 thanks,

I thought about doing the dremel on an old chainring - I just need to find
one of the right size.

Re: [RBW] Re: wtb (if right size) silver salsa crossing guard

2013-03-03 Thread Seth Vidal
I'd seen the sugino one, of course - but I was never clear if I liked it or
not.

I took your advice and dremeled down an older big ring. That took some
effort and it looks 'pretty good' but not great. I may try again. a friend
of mine has a bunch of old 110bcd large rings that are all shark-toothed
out. :)

Here's how the hilsen looks without the bashguard:

I think the chain guard looks pretty good and it sure feels good.

I may have to shorten the chain up a little bit since I don't need it to
stretch for a 48x30 anymore - only a 40x30.

on the whole a productive weekend in the bike shed.
