Re: [RBW] Interrupters must be V-brake/disk specific

2012-06-14 Thread Peter Pesce
I bought some Tektro RX6 v-brakes from that seller. They were good to deal
with.
The brakes appeared new, but came in a clear plastic bag, not a Tektro box,
so I think this seller might have some source for OEM parts or other bulk
purchases. The RX6's are not available from any other source in the US as
far I could find, even though they are listed on the Tektro US website.

I suppose that if the canti cross lever won't work with a v-brake, you

Re: [RBW] Interrupters must be V-brake/disk specific

2012-06-14 Thread PATRICK MOORE
Thanks for the info on the Tektros.

As for liking cantis: I am almost entirely incompetent when it comes
to setting up cantilevers: I've never been able to get them to work
properly with road bars, at least anything except the ancient, high
profile Shimaos that came with my (soon to be sold; buyer has put down
a deposit on it) tricycle. These things work fine with original, 20
year old pads. But the best brakes I've used were the Riv installed
IRCs on the Sam Hill I bought from them: as powerful as V brakes (my
standard for grippiness), much better at modulation.

The Mafac cantis I used were useless, both the "regular" model and the
longer armed tandem model: this both with original Mafac levers,
modern Tektro aero levers and with new, salmon pads. Very odd, since
these were, I gather, the standard back in the day.
