Re: [RBW] Quickbeam Chainring Clearance
Good news! keep us posted. I like the IGH/QB thing. Waiting for updates. I reinstalled my crankset yesterday and noticed the tight clearance, which looks exactly like Horace's. I guess it's always been that way. I had the crankset off while Phil Wood & Co were rebuilding my PW bottom bracket. After being in the bike for three years, the drive side bearing finally failed. That's pretty good (the bike has seen a lot of use), and the rebuild (with return shipping) was just $41. One note: I think the failing bottom bracket may have been to blame for the "inefficient" feeling I was getting from my Sturmey Archer hub. The hub had felt OK spinning, but not good when I put pressure to the pedals (such as accelerating or climbing). My guess is that the bottom bracket was creating that feeling--on a quick test ride last night it felt entirely different. It's pretty tight. But I figured, as long as there was _some_ clearance, it didn't matter to me. http://www.flickr.com/photos/7850...@n06/4189629392/ Horace. Re: [RBW] Quickbeam Chainring Clearance
Barely any! I have often thought that the slightest tweak of the chain ring would cause it to hit the stay each revolution. Haven't ever had that problem, though. --- On Tue, 12/15/09, Eric Norris wrote: From: Eric Norris Subject: [RBW] Quickbeam Chainring Clearance To: rbw-owners-bunch@googlegroups.com Date: Tuesday, December 15, 2009, 7:46 PM Just wondering how much clearance other QBs have between the inner chainring and the chainstay on their stock bikes (first gen). --Eric campyonly...@me.com www.campyonly.com www.wheelsnorth.org -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
