FWIW, if you really want cog security on a hub without provision for a
reverse-threaded lockring, use red Loctite. I did this with a very nice and
expensive ENO hub. Dura Ace -- so top quality -- cog. When it came time to
remove it, and being ignorant of the need for heat, I tried force: almost
Screw-on track cogs have the same threading as screw-on freewheels. Does
this other side also have a smaller-diameter, reverse-threaded section for
a lockring? If so, the fixed cog ought simply to fit over -- bypass -- that
section and screw on as with a freewheel.

I did the Sheldon trick on my Quickbeam with the original Suzue rear hub: a
fixed cog, blue loctite, and a bottom bracket lock ring. Many years of
commuting, errand running, occasional long day rides and overnight camping
trips and nary a problem. I say thumbs up.

I've done just about every type of cycling but this, so here goes. I just
picked up a lovely silver Quickbeam with the stock Suzie hubs Riv used. It's
threaded on both sides and had one freewheel. Will a fixed cog work on the
other side, or does that take a specific threading? I know these
