I finished at 12:48am. 18 hours 48 minutes. Bike computer says 16 hours ride time, so 2:48 of non-ride time. I'd be deliriously happy to achieve a 100km ever 5 hrs pace, but it is still very much a work in progress. [RBW] Re: 3 Capes 300k
Lynne Having finished my first Populaire outside the time limit your 16 hours of ride time for 300k with some serious climbing is impressive. Especially when considering you were in bonksville for the last 40 miles. I haven't ever ridden in the 3 capes area but have ridden a number of times in the Cannon Beach stretch of coast hwy and my experience is there are no flat spots on 101 ;-) I'm no math guru but that works to 18.75 km per hour on the bike. Again considering distance, Terrain and lack of fuel -Chapeau!! On Apr 13, 8:13 am, Lynne Fitz fitzb...@comcast.net wrote: I finished at 12:48am. 18 hours 48 minutes. wow the route looks amazing! Thanks for the pictures On Apr 11, 9:38 am, Mike mjawn...@gmail.com wrote: Here's some pictures from yesterday's 3 capes 300k. I rode my Hilsen for the second year in a row and it performed flawlessly although not quietly. My rear derailer and rear fender were making some odd noises at times. I'll try and figure out what's going on later this week. The Jack Brown greens are great and I like them much more than the blues. The highlight of the ride for me was the first 100k which we covered pretty fast. This includes summating and descending the coast range. We had an amazing tailwind which pushed us up the climb. There was ice on the road for the beginning of the descent but minimal traffic so we just took the lane and bombed down for the first couple of miles of the descent until it mellowed out. There was quite a large group of us descending and it was exhilarating. The tailwind pushed us right into to Tillamook and out to the beginning of the Cape Meares climb. I love this ride and I love the distance. It was my third year doing the ride. I had been hoping to finish in just under 13hrs but dawdled a little too much at some of the controls. Perhaps next year. Still, I finished with a solid time fo 13hrs 48min. My company for the ride was great. It was just a really good time. I was bummed my point and shoot digital camera crapped out. The climb up Hwy 6 to the summit of the coast range was pretty cold. Right as I took my camera out to get a shot of the summit sign the camera froze up. Bummer. It's a lot easier to take pictures with that than it is with my camera phone (Motorala droid). Here's some pictures:http://www.flickr.com/photos/41335...@n00/sets/72157623831454890/ It's dry out now and in spite of feeling a little fatigued I'm think I might head out for a little 30 mile or so jaunt around Sauvie Island. --mike -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group.
