Re: [RBW] Re: 5cm Stem or shorter
Thanks All Drw, I PM'd you. Yes I know of the analog stems. I wrote them a few days ago...they aren't sure when their next run is going to be and it sounds like they are looking for a producer to make them..so those aren't available new now. I think the 5cm tech is such a good compromise for the money. Would love see something in 40mm. I have an extra analog 30mm stem with a 31.8 clamp. I bought 2 but am only using one at the moment. Re: [RBW] Re: 5cm Stem or shorter
I have a Soma quill adapter with a 40mm threadless stem which allows me to use a Jones Loop Bar on my 1985 MB-2, and it works great. I chose the Soma because it was the adapter that I could find with the greatest length to get the bars way up high. And like you, I’m in the process of putting drop bars on my long top tube MIT Atlantis. So far I’ve got the 50mm Nitto Technomic mated to a Nitto Noodle bar. I haven’t mounted it yet, but if the 50mm stem turns out to be too long, I can always poach the Soma adapter to go shorter. You can find plenty of 30 and 40mm threadless stems online, but if you need to do a 0mm stem, looks like the threaded Analog quill stem might be your only option. Having a threaded-to-threadless adapter with a threadless stem isn’t nearly as pretty as the Analog stems, but it is about 1/2 the price. Good luck with your build and keep us posted! ~Mark Raleigh, NC > On Apr 27, 2019, at 13:32, Christopher Cote > wrote: > > Not as elegant as a Nitto stem, you can get a quill stem adapter and put a > threadless style stem on it. [RBW] Re: 5cm Stem or shorter
Not as elegant as a Nitto stem, you can get a quill stem adapter and put a threadless style stem on it. MTB stems are available down to 30mm or so, thanks to the downhill crowd. Or, you could get one of those adjustable angle stems and point it up high. That would reduce the reach. Heavy and cheap looking, though.
