Patrick,

If all you want is distance and time (with location), any of the
iPhone GPS apps will work, you just need to decide how well integrated
you want it.  Some of them have their own websites where you can track
previous rides etc.

I use a Garmin 305 GPS watch because it includes a heart-rate monitor
and you upload the information to a pretty decent garmin website that
records everything on a map etc.  Works for both running and cycling.
