[RBW] Re: Best wishes to all for the new year
I can abide by that. My New Years has been stretch of nights at the hospital and commutes in the low 20°s, both certainly fuel one's appreciation of Maslov's hierarchy. Here's to another year of health, safety, adventure, undeserving grace and ability to teach or share knowledge you didn't realize you've accumulated. [RBW] Re: Best wishes to all for the new year
These are excellent resolutions. I call my resolutions 'goals' because for some reason the semantic difference makes me stick to them better. Like you, gratitude figures prominently year after year. Being grateful for the positive elements of my life keeps me focused on how fortunate I am for what I have, and not what I don't. I'm grateful for family and friends, for my health despite some challenges, and I'm grateful for another year of bike rides. I have a small stable of bikes, but they are all wondrous and magical in their individual way; my Hunqapillar (the racked/fendered/dynamo'ed/go anywhere/do anything/all-weather ride), my Brompton (a surprisingly capable and versatile travel bike), and my new-to-me Atlantis (a fair-weather, keep-it-simple, joyride bike). Complain less, buy less, fret less? I can get behind those, too. Thanks for the inspiration, and Happy New Year. Patrick, I appreciate the sentiment: I am going to try to complain less, buy less, fret less, ride more, and be grateful for the opportunity to do so. And i aspire to do the same.
