I think you are misunderstanding what I am talking about, Steve.
If you take a needle, and try to poke it through a wad of cotton, it can be
tough to pierce through the wad.
So, in a similar way, maybe the teeth of the dog couldn't pass through the
weave of the wool sock Patrick was wearing.
I don't think you'd be able to get a cotton ball through the eye of a
needle either.

Aye, Andy, the fender flap works a charm! It was one of those odd things that
would have never been captured in a picture except I had stopped to take
pictures, which caused it to happen.

Controlling the wool shrinkage is iffy, and you may not want it uniformly
shrunk.
