So the bike came with the Riv Silver crank. Compared to the vintage
cottered cranks I've wrestled with, it looks like the Silver will be a
piece of cake!
@James, thanks for the gear size details. Your experience reinforces my
sense that changing to a triple will be
according to the Riv brochure, the current setup is:
CHAINRINGS: Steel. 38/24, chainguard.
CASSETTE: SunRace 8sp 11x34.
FRONT DER: Shimano Claris.
My understanding is that I should be able to replace the chainguard with a
chainring.
