I get around 31 miles, but yeah we can drop down below Gleason it might be better to look for a protected area anyway. Do you remember how much climbing there is on SCD road? I suspect we can make better time then going down Mendenhall as the conditions will be better. Also I forgot to mention

The best I can figure is that from the summit of Gleason to the Sun Valley Metrolink station is 37 miles. It may make sense to go further down the SC Divide road before camping. Looks like I'll have to drive up early to get the 1st train. My incoming Orange County train misses the AV train
