As this topic morphs into repacking Grip Kings, I'll mention that ironically, I
just repacked mine two days ago to get rid of clicking!! I too, lubed and
tightened everything and suddenly the light bulb went on: maybe it's the

My experience with GK pedals is good. As I said, I've got 'em on several
bikes. The only problem I've ever had with them, and it goes for every set
of MKS pedals I've had, is that they come from the factory without
sufficient lubrication. I've had to repack the bearings on all them. After

The pedals don't have sealed bearing and it seems that not enough grease is
packed in when they ship. Nothing particularly bad occurs but in my first
set one of the pedals developed a clicking. I couldn't find it anywhere. I
thought it might be my saddle. I greased and lubed all sorts of things.

I've scraped myself more than once with the GKs, but not as bad as with
pedals with serrated edges like MKS touring pedals. I have those on one
bike and managed to scrape myself yesterday. Sigh. That might be candidate
for more Ergons.

It's not the snow, but the salt, sand, and whatever other chemicals
there that muck up pedals. My Grip Kings are about half full of stuff
from this and last year's winter. Can't seem to get some of it out no
matter how much I poke and prod.
Been really tempted on the Ergons for that reason.
Skate deck tape works pretty well in wet conditions so maybe these pedals
will too. Grip Kings do not. So far only one thing works for me in rain:
clip less pedals. Gasp!

I put a set of these on my Long Haul Trucker and like them very much.
I cannot stand dedicated biking shoes and pedals, and I had too much
overlap with the front fender when using toe clips and touring
pedals.
I tried powergrips, free touring pedals, and almost pulled the trigger
on some
Kent Peterson has had them since quite early, and IIRC was going to
post about them after he'd had some time on them. His climate use
will give them the stress test, so it shouldn't be long before we know
how they do in really wet winter conditions. If they survive a year
in the Pacific
