I've flown with my SS coupled Riv (and Sweetpea) many times. Knock on
wood, but they've never opened the case. Maybe this summer. Once they get
it through their heads that my case is 1) within size limits and 2) within
weight limits, (and believe me, I have had to clarify those points for
I travel with equipment cases quite often and find that checking at the
curb avoids a lot of questions and hassles. The sky caps seem to be more
worried about weight more than slightly oversized dimensions.

their website . The other posters are correct, there's no reason to state
that it's a bike. I've had varying luck (Dahon Speed TR) with sizing
surcharges but the weight has always been strictly enforced. 51 lbs = $.
It's at 48 pounds, so I'm OK there. I think I'll go with exercise equipment
and check it at the curb.

I just travelled to Philly on business about 6 weeks ago and am now on family
vacation in Door County, WI. My Bike Friday Llama fits in a standard Samsonite
suitcase and I never get asked what's inside. I do check at the curb and find
