[RBW] Re: Hanging Edelux + Nitto Big Front

2017-10-16 Thread Minh

Bill thanks for the suggestion, actually thats how i have my current light,
but i've never liked it aesthetically and i feel it gets in the way--even
though that makes the most practical sense (out in front, best light
distribution etc).

david, thanks, i was thinking about p-clamps too, and that seems to be the
simplest option.

appreciate all the ideas everybody!

Attach it via a p-clamp to one of the front rails (p-clamp + longish bolt +
nut [to clamp the p- to the rail] + spacers [to get the light out far
enough to clear the rail + antiDelux + nylock.)A fancy alternative if
you have a soldering or brazing torch handy would be to get a suitably
sized piece of allthread, then solder/braze a nut on far enough to clamp
the p-, then do nylock + p-clamp + previously soldered nut + spacers +
antiDelux + nylock.

2017-10-16 Thread Bill Lindsay
How do you propose he “try that” on a Nitto Big Front Rack?? I don’t see any
suitable location to utilize a Sheldon nut on a Nitto Big Front Rack.

That is a good general solution that I am using on a Marks Rack. I’m also using
that solution on a Campee F27. Unless I’m overlooking a very clever mechanical
maneuver, it’s not an option on a Nitto Big Front, because there is no good
place to put it. You could hide it way in the back where the stays are fixed
but that’s a lousy place for a lamp and it would prevent you from hanging a
pannier, which kind of defeats the purpose of the Big Front Rack.

2017-10-16 Thread Bill Lindsay
On a Big Front Rack, or on ANY Nitto Rack with a front reflector tab, I
would always attach the dynamo headlamp to that front tab, using one of
these:

https://www.rivbike.com/collections/lights/products/edelux-light-mounts

A hanging Edelux might look a little goofy since the mount goes UP and then
the lamp comes DOWN, but I would still put it there. In fact, my
HubbuHubbuH tandem came with dynamo wheels and I have a Big Front Rack on
there, and I am just about to pick a lamp. That's definitely where it's
going, with that mount.
