The whole IRD/Riv FW thing confuses everyone I've talked to about it.
The guys at PW were kind enough to explain the IRD specific hub design
to me last year when I was deciding on hubs for another set of wheels.

I recall a previous discussion about the IRD Phil Wood hub. If I
remember correctly, the IRD-specific hub is set-up to create less dish
when used with an IRD freewheel. I do not believe it is an issue of
strict compatibility or thread pitch. Phil's service is extremely
helpful and responsive.
Assuming the hub is made for 7s, it should work fine. I think.

don't, I can not imagine what the Phil Wood people are talking about.
