Funny you should mention the Gran Bois because I plan to make those my
next tire purchase. I fully expect the Cypres to far exceed the
Vittorias in performance.

Just a quick update. I finally saved up enough money to buy new tires (my

Vittoria Randonneur Hypers in 32mm. I have to say I am thrilled with the
purchase!! The Vittorias are so much faster, cushier and they handle

I've ridden JB Blues and Greens and 35mm Marathon Supremes. I'm not a
fan of the Blues, they feel rather sluggish. The Greens are a great
tire and I love the ride although they aren't super durable. For
commuting or rambling, I'd say go with the Supremes. They wear well
and ride nicely.

I'm using 32 Supremes on my Hillborne.
I'm very happy with them as a tire that is both light and puncture
resistant, but I'd hardly call them zippy.
Never tried the Jack Browns, but I would guess that they a little feel
nicer and maybe faster, with a little less flat resistance.

On Dec 20,
Thanks for the responses everyone!
I think I'm leaning toward the Marathons (was somewhat leaning that
way to begin with) but I am also interested in the Duremes. I would
have thought the Dureme would be better on dirt than the supreme since
Grant describes the Supreme as a fat slick.
I'm also
I ride both tires. The JB are a little more chushy. The Supremes may take
about 200 miles to get more plump, however I ride 32mm supremes so this
could be different with the 35mm. I feel more no worry riding the supremes
becuase they laugh at debrie on the road. I ride the supremes everyday
I've ridden both JB blues and the MS 35c on my Hillborne. They're
both extraordinary tires that I think will work great for you.
There's no significant difference in road feel and you're correct in
your assumption about width if you're referring to the JB 331/3. I'd
give a slight nod to the MS
I've ridden the JB Greens and the Marathon Supreme 32s. I'm always
very pleased with the ride and the speed the Schwalbes over the JBs.
I'm always a bit surprised the first time I put on the Marathon
Supremes for winter commuting and just a bit disappointed when I put
on the JBs in the spring.
On
I wore out a set of JB Blues out on a '91 Bridgestone RB-T I use as my
commuter. I then tried a set of Marathon Supremes, but in 32mm size.
Wore those out. I'm back with the JBB's now. The Supremes were a nice
tire, long lasting, but had more rolling resistance. They really
rumble when you roll
Consider a third option as well, the Vittoria Randonneur Hyper.
Available in 32, 35 and 38 mm. My 32's measure 34 mm wide on Velocity
A23 rims, they should be a true 32 on a narrower rim. 365 gm
(measured), in between the JB blue and green, nice rolling, reasonably
flat-resistant, black
I ride the 70x40's MS and love itits actually about 37-38 mm wide
so just perfect for me. So far no flats and its a speedy comfy tire.
The 35 could only be lighter and presumably faster on smooth pavement.
