I was feeling nostalgic about snowy winters until I read this thread.

This is nuts...Hopefully mud season will have at least started by the time you
return, Michael... I've been postponing this year's ski trip to northern VT
until temps at least settle in the 20s... You know, 'spring skiing'...
Enjoy wa-hocka... Great cuisine.

-3°F here this morning, 4 of new snow on top of all the frozen moisture
from a day's rainfall.
Weirdest things happen in these big temp swings.
On my 43° rainy ride home the other evening, after low single digit temp

Jim, did you see that massive moonrise last night through the thick air?
Today we had the blue norther, 30 degrees this morning, 70 this afternoon,
dead calm, dry as a bone, high pressure.

Been too cold to wrench in the garage.
I'll be glad when the warmer weather comes and I can wrench and ride again.

In Maryland, rain has changed to snow. We are expecting 5 to 8 inches by
tonight, and Friday's high forecasted to be a balmy 29!

come and will bring much needed moisture in the form of heavy wet snow.

Yes, if you're in Alaska they are ! As all that cold air goes down tho
the lower 48, the temps can rise dramatically in Alaska :-) When it's sub
zero cold in Minnesota, it's above freezing in Alaska .

At this point I'd kill for a relatively dry day forecast above 40. As of now it
looks like I'll be sporting a noodly pair of legs (at best) come the start of
spring here in NYC.
Bey hey -- we can't complain about the skiing, at least!

Just to get a look of disgruntlement from Ron, we're sunny, 28˚F, 100%
humidity, multiple layers of snow on the trail, and it was t-shirt weather
for my ride this morning. Grin. Grit, grime, snow, slush and ice is good

Michael,
Your Vermont problem is the same over here in the southwest (Pittsburgh).
Average February temp. this year was 18.5°F, second to 1979 when it was
18.0°F.
I will take -12°F over 35° and raining any day though, and I think I'll
have the chance to compare soon. 33° and snowing now.
