[RBW] Re: Suggestions for smallest-possible reading glasses or monocle
Thanks McKenzy, Andrew and [?]. Monocles seem to be the solution. Since getting cataract surgery (plastic lenses) in both eyes some 8-9 years ago now, after 40+ years of dealing with strong myopia and astigmatism, I'm too happy with my 20/20 to 20/40 in-bright-Georgia-O'Keefe-level-NM-sunlight vision to want to hassle with distance-correcting lenses while riding. (I can see fine for bike riding at night as well as in daytime, but for driving I need slight help at night and keep a pair of driving glasses in the car for after sundown). Re: [RBW] Re: Suggestions for smallest-possible reading glasses or monocle
I forgot to add that I also carry supercheapo folding reading glasses from the dollar store as emergency, high magnification backup glasses. The ones I've found fold up and go in a case that is about 1" x 1" x 2".HTH,Andrew On Friday, June 3, 2022, 01:06:07 PM GMT+10, Andrew Letton wrote: I've been riding with these cheap "cheaters" from Duluth Trading for years: https://www.duluthtrading.com/wrap-style-clear-cheaters-82382.html#lang=default=duluth=cheaters=2 They also have a "dark" version: https://www.duluthtrading.com/wrap-style-cheater-sunglasses-82383.html#lang=default=duluth=cheaters=1 Available in 1.75 to 3.5 diopter...hard to beat for $20! cheers,Andrew On Friday, June 3, 2022, 02:30:57 AM GMT+10, 'thwart' via RBW Owners Bunch wrote: Ever since a mid-ride episode of both myself and my riding partner being unable to make out the text on our phone's Google maps (on a 60th birthday ride, no less), I've been using bifocal cycling glasses. [RBW] Re: Suggestions for smallest-possible reading glasses or monocle
Hi Patrick, As a printmaker and as a friend of botanists -I've received magnifying loupes / botanist loupes before. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Some are quite compact and have a variety of lens magnifications. I don't know if that is helpful. But as somebody who enjoys nice "objects" they fill their intended magnification role as well as a small interesting objects. I have no eye sight issues. Just enjoy looking at tiny things. This may or may not be helpful. On Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 2:44:12 PM UTC-6 Patrick Moore wrote: > What do you old people with presbyopia carry for mid-ride close-up > looking?
