Re: [RBW] Re: Sunday: wind, sand, sun, cold.
Speaking of a sub 65 more-than-58 gear: is the overall width of a 9 speed Shimano cassette (backside of inner/big cog to outside of outer/small cog) the same width *overall* as an 8 speed cassette? If so, I can add a 18 between the 17 and 19 without losing one on the high or low end. Re: [RBW] Re: Sunday: wind, sand, sun, cold.
Thanks, Steve. Actually, I want to know if the inner and outer rear derailleur travel limits will remain the same for the 9 speed as for an 8 speed. If so, that means I can convert my Big Apple wheelset to a 9 while leaving the Kojak wheel an 8, and yet not have to fiddle with the rd limit screws. I should have been more clear; I do know that the 9 will fit on the same freehub body. You are considering going from an 8 to a 9? Piece of cake. If indexing, you need a new shifter and of course a new cassette and chain. If you have a friction shifter, are skilled enough to make it work, and do not plan to go index, all you need are the chain and cassette. Contrary to what Shimano said at the time, derailleurs and chain rings made for 8 work perfectly with 9. -- - Patrick Moore, Albuquerque, NM, USA For professional resumes, contact Patrick Moore, ACRW http://resumespecialties.com/index.html - -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group.
