Re: [RBW] Re: Taking Clem to a different level
Hello Jim the grips are Velo Orange Rustines. I don't even know if they still do them. I never found them good on Albas etc (loose fitting/too short), but they fit fine on the drops. In this case there is no tape underneath. I could have probably made that work, but just decided to take the short cut and start the tape where the grip ends. The added benefit was that the grips are flexy enough that I could run the shift housing under the grip on the right side. Saw this last week and it's even better looking in person. The reach doesn't feel as long as it looks in the pics. Definitely seems reasonable even for people with average torso length. I love the build and I wish all my bikes were that mustard color. Brynnar -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. Love it! Dirt drop setup is great if you can get the right height and the reach works. I have OG WTB Dirt Drops on my BMC right now. Given my torso length, I look for bikes on the opposite end of spectrum. The longer the top tube the better. I'm interested in the long term comfort as well. Ride on! [RBW] Re: Taking Clem to a different level
That's very nice! I briefly experimented with dirt drops on the Clem (with a 100mm Nitto Dirt Drop stem), but found that the reach was maybe an inch too long even with my proportionally-crazy-long torso. Your idea of an Analog stem is interesting, though - that might be just the thing for a re-try of the idea... Re: [RBW] Re: Taking Clem to a different level
I greatly dislike bikes with too-long (relative to me) top tubes, since I like to place my bar exactly were I want it without reference to reach from saddle, which is one of my constants. Probably the best fitting "off-shelf" frame I ever owned was a 60 c-c X 56.5.* But I must say that the photo is appealing, what with that long top tube and tiny stem and hugely flared bar. I'll be interested to hear how comfortable it is in the long term * When I have bikes built, I generally choose shorter seat tubes, for various reasons, and make up the difference with seatpost, head tube, top tube angle, and stem. But this Herse just fit right away, with hardly any adjustment, when I bought it from the previous owner.
