Canti for ultimate fenderability and rackability!!!
Nothing but air between tire and fork crown!!!
I always wondered why all Rivbikes are not canti bikes since they are such
staunch supporters of fender and rack use.

Canti-Hilsen? Never saw one before but I dig it. Are there others?

“Waterford streamlined the serial numbers to the last three components of the
self-describing serial number:
Month Code: This one letter code corresponds to the month with A=January,
B=Febuary and so on. Because I is not used, September=J and December=M.
Year Code: This two
My guess:
K= month
11= year
XXX= ___th day of year triple digits makes sense in November
Guess on second set of numbers:
How many Grant paid for so far/out of # made for him
Just kidding!

mine is stamped
K11XXX
RBW 02/595
...which makes a lot of sense since i ordered it in october '11, and, from
what i gather, k=november in waterford speak.
anybody know what the second sequence of numbers means?

Addendum, "never seen a good one" is a poor choice of words, I'm just saying
the windows weren't perfect like the current bikes. Regardless that mint is
gorgeous, and it has my favorite Riv name and decals. Lovely bikes.

Mine wasn't bad, but the paint on the fork crown got rubbed off pretty bad
by the BE shifter cable.
Here is my Bleriot album with some close ups: https://flic.kr/p/GiEm9C

Bleriot was the first MIT Riv to get painted windows and it showed. I've never
seen a good one, including the one I owned..they were all a little kludgey up
close. But still gorgeous!

I am sure all the MUSA/Tai/and Toyos are equal value in quality of build.
Just the economies of their markets price them differently. I think RBW has
always said that the build quality is the same.
Paint may be another issue.
My 2013blueSamTaiborne paint looked just as good as my MusaRoadeo
My MUSA AHH had two water bottle locations, RIVENDELL stamped on the bottom
bracket, dropouts and the fork ends, an a S/N of B1110X.

I'm pretty sure Riv knows where the serial number was made. I had a question
about my Hunqapillar and when I gave Keven (remember Keven?) the serial number
he told me it was Toyo made (and, to my delight, that "those are special bikes")

I consider the Toyo/Waterford frames to have equal value. They sold in the same
price categories (obviously increasing as the years went on), and were built in
a similar handbuilt fashion.

Having an older Hilsen and not knowing if Musa or Toyo poses a resale value
conundrum.
Wonder if there is a way to tell where made.
Maybe the serials can do that. Not sure if RBW knows.

Cuz unscrupulous persons could contest ownership unless you can produce proof
of purchase.
Over on musician forums they avoid posting whole numbers for this reason.

My notes say, "3 water bottle braze ons mean Toyo built"
Also, I guess I'm too naive or trusting -- why don’t you recommend posting
full numbers?

Thanks.
You can look at dropouts to see if “Waterford” stamped there. Sometimes they do
that though I don’t know if done on Hilsens. Don’t know how to check for Toyos.
I don’t need full serials. Just wanted to confirm the first two characters of
Hilsen numbers. I don’t need whole numbers and
My blue 56cm is serial number - AH0273
I did NOT buy it from the original owner but two years ago, probably from
the third owner.
Can I assume that mine is also a Toyo build?
And, what year might it have been made?
