A lot of people like the Acorn bags - a nice tan color with a kind of buckle that's easy to use on the fly. I am very fond of my Bertoud - a standard one with stretchy pocket closures. As for the new racks - proto one looks ungainly to my eye, proto two looks the business! Consider using the Nigel Smythe big box - the ultimate in good looks, durability, and ease of use. [RBW] Re: new front racks?
So, those are my photos. The racks in development will come from Nitto, who knows something about making strong racks. There are a few in development, I took photos only of two. The first (I believe) will attach right to a front mini (with the four eyelets), and may look strange in its prototype form, but in person seems to be about perfect. Patience will yeild more information, I'm sure. Good to know there's rack-age in the works, though! On Jun 4, 8:58 am, J. Burkhalter burk...@yahoo.com wrote: Hey George- For boxy/rando bags, you can't go wrong with either Mark's Rack (http://tinyurl.com/o78xdo) for sidepull/centerpull brakes or the Mini Front Nitto Rack (http://tinyurl.com/oe6q33) for canti's. Both are easily hack-able to accept just about any generator or battery headlight in a protected position that is below the bag and forward to prevent any tire shadow. Both racks come with P-clamps for mounting on forks w/o braze-ons. -Jay Asheville, NC On Jun 4, 8:21 am, GeorgeS chobur...@gmail.com wrote: I have never used a front bag but I'm going to experiment this summer with one of those boxy bags with the map case on top. Mike Flanigan has made some dual guarded head light racks for his AntBikes. If I did not have such a nice city bike already, I would love to get one of his new Boston Roadsters with one of those dual light racks. Unfortunately for us (very fortunately for Mike!) Mike has such a back log of bike orders he has no time to make racks for bikes other than his own.
