Re: [RBW] Sam Hillborne frame size?

2021-04-18 Thread James Warren

Jim,

Before Riv started offering frames with 6 degree top tube upslope, the top tube
upslope was roughly 2 degrees. This was the Riv norm from 1994 until whenever
the Bombadil came along (’07, ’08?, I don’t remember the exact year.) Atlantis
had 2.5 degrees, AHH had 1.5 degrees, many other models had 2 degrees.

With those 2 degree frames, my ideal size is 64 and 65 cm, and that’s what I
rode before Bombadil and Hillborne came along with the 6 degree upslope.

Then in 2010, I got a 60 cm Hillborne, I found that I could make that size work
well for me. When they started offering the frames with more upslope to the top
tubes, they called it “Expanded Geometry.” It’s ended up being a really good
thing, because I’m pretty sure it improves the dirt capability.

Enjoy your Hillborne! Amazing frames

[RBW] Sam Hillborne frame size?

2021-04-17 Thread Finnegan
How can I tell the size of the Sam Hillborne frame? I don't see any size on
the paint anywhere, the Riv website doesn't have specs for the size I'm
looking at (60cm--the largest Sam they offer in 2021, apparently). Could be
a 58 or 57 though, not sure.

I tried measuring the top tube length, but from where? Maybe the middle of
the seat tube to where the top tube connects with the head tube? Or to the
middle of the head tube too? Or just the length between the tubes? How long
should it be on the new 60cm frame?

Thanks, Riv pros.
