With opening teacher meetings looming, I thought I would share a quick recap
and photos of several summer biking adventures.
I posted earlier about our family ride in June on the GAP trail; photos are

In July two friends and I cycled the entire C&O Canal. Photos from that trip
are here:

For many years I have wanted to cycle from Pittsburg to Washington, DC on the
GAP and C&O. Though I had to break the journey up into two adventures, the
journey was as enjoyable as I had hoped.

Finally in early August we vacationed in Cape Cod with friends. I brought my
Atlantis, and we explored as a family the Cape's great network of rail trails.

While in Harwich on Cape Cod, I saw this Ross Eurosport resting in the bike
area at the public beach. Several years ago Grant posted on the Blug several
photos of well used bikes he saw in NYC, if I remember correctly. The Ross
reminded me of that series of photos. The bike looks more or less equipped
with original components and appears to have spent its entire life by the
ocean. It continues to transport someone to the beach: http://flic.kr/p/oqc7Ju

For next summer, my wife and I are thinking of cycling the Erie Canal. If
anyone has ridden portions, I would appreciate any insights and advice.

All the best and safe cycling,
Erl
